On October 3rd, we kicked off our first planting event of the season with Green Blocks: South Tacoma! We started the morning at the STAR Center chatting with friends, enjoying snacks, and gearing up with our high-vis vests. We then split into 10 teams to provide planting assistance for residents throughout the South Tacoma neighborhood. Through the Green Blocks program, we provided planting assistance to 73 residents and shared a total of 176 trees. A huge thank you to all the residents and volunteers who participated in the program!

At @bluebeardcoffee on 6th Avenue at State Street, you can see ongoing @cityoftacoma work to upgrade traffic signals and safety at intersections through the @6thavetacoma business district.

The new models come with a retroreflective blackplate, meant to make signals more visible.

As this transition continues, let's pause to appreciate Tacoma's older and distinctive traffic signals, with their top-heavy jumbo red lights (compared to their smaller yellow and green lights) that have vied for the attention of Tacoma's motorists for decades.

Little boots, big adventures, and a whole lot of fall magic🍂💛

Family travel in the Pacific Northwest looks a little something like this. Crisp autumn air, colorful leaves, waterfront views, and plenty of room for little explorers to roam! ✨

T-Town is BACK next FRIDAY! 🥳

This FREE, family-friendly event is a unique opportunity for @cityoftacoma residents to celebrate fall, trunk-or-treat (costumes welcome), explore trade and career opportunities, and engage in fun, hands-on activities.

Explore the wheels at work with real fire trucks and police vehicles, strap on virtual goggles to see through the eyes of high voltage electrical workers, learn all about Tacoma Rail and the train system, ride bikes to create electricity, and so much more.
