🎄Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree🎄
____________

The students AND the faculty sure got creative with their excuses as the holiday season approached…😂

But in all seriousness, Little Debbie Christmas Tree Cakes are big business this time of year! Did you know…

🎄Little Debbie Christmas Tree cakes have been a holiday snack favorite for forty years!

🎄If you lined up all the cartons of vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet Christmas Tree Cakes sold each year, they’d stretch from Memphis to Mountain City six times!

🎄American shoppers purchase more than 2,000 Little Debbie products per minute.

From the perfectly piped frosting garlands to those tiny sugar sprinkles, each one is a little edible tradition. This year marks the 40th anniversary celebration, complete with special packaging!

What else is fun about Christmas Tree Cakes? Making them a success involves all business majors offered in the CBGA! Accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and information systems all play a major role in producing, branding, marketing, distributing, and profiting from the sales of one truly delicious product.

You could be the next great innovator a company like Little Debbie or McKee Foods, Little Debbie’s parent company, with the skills you learn in the CBGA. Something to think about this holiday season!

🧡Just Elfin’ Around🧡
_____________

Just channeling the spirit of Buddy the Elf in the CBGA today! Our students Sophie Wilson and Rebecca Worley went full elf-mode in the kitchen, whipping up a special spaghetti surprise for Dean Mehlhorn. Sweet syrup, chocolate, candy, marshmallows, and ALL the toppings – because the four main food groups are candy, candy canes, candy corn, and syrup, right?

We hope you enjoy our students’ and the dean’s unmatched holiday spirits as they devour Buddy the Elf’s special dish! As for the kitchen clean-up…well, that’s a problem for later. 😂

🧡Finals Week🧡
_____________

This video is dedicated to the students because you’re the reason we do what we do. In a campus-wide collaboration of some of the greatest minds at UTM, we thank not only CBGA dean Dr. Mehlhorn and Hendrix Chair Dr. Delmond, but also CAAS dean Dr. Winters, AGN chair Dr. Totten, and CHFA dean Dr. Bibbee for their mad dance moves and holiday cheer in this tribute to Hugh Grant’s famous Love Actually dance.

*To the students born before Love Actually released, the dance is on Tiktok and yes, Hugh Grant also played an oompa loompa in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He is an actor of many talents.😂*

To the brave souls who survived Finals Week at UT Martin:

You did it.

You’ve had Moonlight Breakfast, Chick-Fil-A, and Freshens to your heart’s content. You’ve cried in the library (we all saw you, we were crying too). You’ve consumed your body weight in coffee from Starbucks.

You’ve walked across campus in December weather that makes you question every life choice that brought you to West Tennessee. You’ve had that one final that made you text your group chat “well, it’s been real y’all” mid-exam. You’ve reached that beautiful stage of delirium where everything is either hilarious or devastating, no in-between.

But here you are. Standing (barely). Surviving (technically).

To the freshmen: you made it through your first finals week. Yes, it’s always like this. No, you don’t get used to it. Yes, we’re all very proud of you.

To the seniors: you’ve taken your last college exam and are about to take your first steps towards your next achievements. You are an accomplishment waiting to happen and you got this!

Now go home. Hug your dog. Sleep. And most importantly, delete Canvas from your phone for at least three days.

You survived! And you’re free – until January. ☺️

🧡Homecoming Reflections🧡
___________
A week later, and we’re still glowing from UTM Homecoming 2025! Watching our Skyhawks shine through every competition, activity, and moment of connection reminded us why this week means so much. From the energy on the quad to the friendships made—both new and cherished—Homecoming captured the heart of what makes our UTM community special. Quad City was pure magic, bringing together Skyhawks across every generation to celebrate what binds us. Thank you for the unforgettable memories and for making this homecoming one for the books!

🧡Faculty Senate Update🧡
__________
We are so proud of management professor Sean Walker and his service as faculty senate president this year...and we are just hot to go over his newly elected vice-president from our friends in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, Sandy Mehlhorn! They will make a great team over the next year, and then Sandy will take the reins of faculty senate next summer when Sean’s term ends.

What better way for Sandy and Sean to celebrate Sandy’s election to VP than a little dance party with our Yancellor and Jake Bynum?

Here’s to a great year leading faculty senate for Sean and Sandy!
