So proud to have creative directed this and collab’d with @cjmal on such a simple and impactful statement. We worked on a ton of drafts and finally the message we were trying to convey came through...seemingly so effortlessly - it was a challenge to say so much with so little.
The people who got upset about Kaepernick kneeling were only looking at it at face value and out of context. They viewed it as disrespectful to the military, flag and country that they (or their family) fought for and love. But the problem is that minorities have also fought for these freedoms during every war this country has been in and unfortunately the United States hasn’t upheld it’s end of the bargain that: “ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL…with certain UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, that among these are LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” So I can understand why Kaepernick chose to peacefully exercise his First Amendment right since “Congress shall make no law…abridging the FREEDOM OF SPEECH…or the RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE PEACEABLY TO ASSEMBLE”. I believe that Kaepernick’s actions represent the values and virtues that the United States was meant to stand for, unfortunately America broke its promise. 🇺🇸 💔
