LARPing stands for Live Action Role-Playing — an activity where participants physically act out characters in a shared fictional world in real time. Think costumes, foam weapons, elaborate storylines, fully committing to a character that isn’t you.

But somewhere along the way, the internet took that concept and ran with it. Now ‘larping’ is what people call it when someone is performing a version of themselves that isn’t quite real yet. And the key word is yet.

Every person who ever built something great had to play the role before they earned it. They dressed like the person they were becoming. Carried themselves like the vision was already done. Walked into rooms like they belonged there before anyone gave them permission. That’s not fake — that’s faith in yourself before the results show up.

The greatest artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs were all larping at some point. Acting like they had it figured out before they did. Committing to a character so fully that eventually the character became them.

So when you see someone larping, don’t count them out. They’re not pretending — they’re practicing. And one day the larp becomes the reality. L
