I reflect on two messages that defined my Freshman year of college: “Continue To Aim for the Top Because The Bottom Is Already Crowded” and “People Can’t Be Influenced By What Hasn’t Been Revealed”.

Starting this journey, I want to thank every individual who played a role in solidifying my decision to call Claflin home. From the moment I stood in WVM Auditorium on August 13, 2025, and spoke to my class and family, I knew this year would be bigger than titles, awards, or accomplishments. It became about purpose, vision, faith, and serving others through {P.R.A.Y.} and Hilltop Vision: Where Purpose Meets Progress.

“People Can’t Be Influenced By What Hasn’t Been Revealed” was more than a speech delivered during the National Society of Leadership and Success’s Induction Ceremony. It was a reminder that our past struggles, scars, testimonies, and victories are all part of the story God uses to shape us into who we are becoming. As we continue to walk by faith and not by sight, I encourage everyone to be transparent, be a light, and inspire others because “The World Needs Visionaries”. 🧡

As I sign out as Freshman Class President and prepare to serve as SGA Executive Secretary, I want the Class of 2029 and everyone who supported me to know how proud I am of you. Thank you for the love, support, lessons, and memories. I pray nothing but peace, love, favor, and blessings over your journeys ahead 💐.

Sincerely,
De’Sharion Burnette

As I get closer to completing my first year and my term as Freshman Class President, I’m filled with nothing but gratitude. To the Freshman Class, thank you for trusting me to lead, for allowing me to stand behind your voices, and for setting the tone with me as we began this journey together. This year was impactful, purposeful, and truly unforgettable because of you.

To my fellow officers, thank you for your commitment, your accountability, and for sharpening one another every step of the way. You understood the standard, you upheld it, and together we set THE EXPECTATION. I’m grateful for each of you and honored to have led alongside you.

To Claflin University and every individual who poured into me, supported me, and played a role in shaping this year, thank you for contributing to my growth, my leadership, and my purpose.

Most importantly, I thank God. For continuously reminding me that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are higher than our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). For molding me into the leader I am becoming, for using me as a vessel for His kingdom, and for placing His light and His will over my life.

{P.R.A.Y} was our foundation, and Hilltop Vision: Where Purpose Meets Progress is now the ceiling.

Wishing everyone a strong finish to exams, continued blessings on your journeys, and nothing but success ahead. Much love always.

CU Soon 🐾🧡

Sincerely,
De’Sharion Burnette

MISS doesn’t just live up to the standard—we set it.
We lead with purpose, move with intention, and show up as the role models we once needed. Every step we take raises the bar, and every win reflects the legacy we’re building. And that’s why we say #misswomendoitbest

As we close out this incredible campaign week, I first want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to share my ministry, purpose, and vision with each of you.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, embraced, and shared Hilltop Vision. Without your support, my leadership would not be felt or measured across this campus. This journey is about all of us. So I encourage you: continue to walk boldly in your own vision, uplift those around you, and be a blessing wherever you go.

Voting is March 31. CU THERE! 🐾🧡

Dear 2025,

Thank you for 12 consecutive months of growth and impact—months that challenged me, expanded my horizons, and pushed me to step boldly into my purpose. A year filled with new responsibilities, meaningful achievements, and transformative experiences that shaped not only my journey but also the vessel I am becoming. I am grateful for every opportunity that has stretched my faith, sharpened my character, and strengthened my commitment to serving, leading, and inspiring others. With faith, I step into 2026 with confidence, knowing it is already in God’s hands.
