I spent this summer interning for the @rocredwings as a Photography & Social Media Intern and it was such an awesome experience! ⚾📸 When I first started exploring sports photography, my focus was usually on getting game-day action shots, and so I never really thought about how an entire organization operates as a whole. I came from a background where I mostly shot hockey so baseball was new to me at first, this internship shifted my perspective.

I ended up realizing that capturing the broader fan culture, the ballpark atmosphere, and the unique community moments through my photography is just as important as anything happening out on the field. I had a blast photographing fans coming into the ballpark, being excited to grab their giveaway items and pose with them..and to capture all the other game day moments.

I also had the chance to connect with the players, even when roster changes happened which definitely sucked to see them go, but it was so cool to watch them move forward into the MLB. I had to navigate a short recovery period while having gallbladder surgery in the middle of it all so I missed out on a couple home games but it added a unique twist to the season, making my return to the ballpark and the rest of the internship much more rewarding.

After I wrapped up my internship I posted a video of Bruce the Bat dog doing his thing and it blew up and got over 500k+ views of him just carrying those bats, which was insane and it probably drove huge amounts of people to come out to the last homestand! 😳

I would like to thank my supervisors and mentors, @jayrobiv and @joe_territo , for your guidance and support. Thank you Joe for providing me with feedback which was very much needed as I basically went into this industry blindly almost two years ago without getting any sports photography feedback so I had to figure it all out on my own. I’m so grateful to be where I’m at today and to have picked up new connections ever since I stepped foot into brockport. I would also like to give a special shoutout to @bruceisbatdog , the sweetest bat dog.
