The Last Wave Rock 👋

a collection of photos we processed this week from customers & staff to send off the last Wave Rock!

In the earlier years of the lab, the Wave Rock long weekend always felt like a seasonal shift - a goodbye to the winter season, and welcoming in the busy season. I felt obliged to stay and work, processing a lot of wave photos as everyone trickled back into town & came by the lab. In the last couple of years we flipped that on its head & turned the weekend into our staff party before the summer season got into full swing.

We managed to document and feature a few different years of Wave Rock on film over the years. Showcasing 2022, 2023, 2025 & now 2026.

A huge thanks to the customers that are a part of this collective feature::

After a great couple of weeks working on music in Freo we drove inland to Hyden, WA to play a surprise set at the final @waverockweekender festival.

We were lucky enough to spend some time at the amazing Wave Rock and did a trip out to Mulka’s Cave where there are 3000+ year old Aboriginal Hand Prints all over the rocks. Incredible to spend some time out in the Western Australian outback.

That ends an awesome couple of weeks in WA with the @johnbutler trio. Great times, even better vibes!

TIDES for 10 Nights in Port: Fremantle Festival - a collaborative performance and immersive experience in the Batavia gallery of the WA Shipwrecks Museum. A few stills from last night’s premiere performance. Two more sold out performances this evening. We will share some videos after tonight’s performances. TIDES came about after conversations about a collaboration between @lucky_oceans bringing the music and Brendan Hutchens with cinematic ocean imagery from dozens of epic expeditions at sea for the filming of @shipwreckhuntersaustralia to creatively present an intimate and immersive story of the coming and going of the tides and the life in our oceans. ||| Musicians Lucky Oceans, Alistair Peel on bass and Ben Vanderwal on drums and percussion ||| Sound, staging and lighting by the brilliance of @clancytravers and @fremantle.production.agency ||| Projection content selected and edited by Brendan Hutchens from @vam_media and brought to life in the space through the expertise of Steven Alyian @usurperofmodernmedicine with thanks to all of the incredible cinematographers who’s stunning footage is featured including @andrererekura @_ryanchatfield @nushfreedman @johnny_debnam @darrenmac_dp @tinyfilmco ||| much appreciation to the WA Shipwrecks Museum team and @wamuseum ||| Huge thanks to @cityoffremantle 10 Nights in Port for backing this concept and helping us make it happen @artsinfremantle #tides #shipwrecks #ocean
