NYMD SS27.

Set against the backdrop of Mercedes-Benz in Hell’s Kitchen, NYMD brought a fashion-forward energy into a space rooted in luxury automotive design. For the day, the showroom shifted from cars to collections, creating an effortless meeting point between two worlds built around design, craft, and innovation.

A selection of standout moments from New York Men’s Day and NYFW—ALIENANT, SCIENCE PROJECT COMPANY, Big Ocean x Andy Yu, KAYALI, and a few other presentations that made the season particularly memorable.

From ALIENANT’s oversized streetwear, distressed textures, and layered silhouettes to SCIENCE PROJECT COMPANY’s sharp tailoring and utilitarian approach, SS27 offered plenty of distinct visual languages.

Big Ocean x Andy Yu brought American denim into conversation with British military references, Victorian romance, and K-pop—cropped cadet jackets, floral appliqués, lace detailing, and relaxed workwear creating an unexpected tension between the utilitarian and the ornamental. Details inspired by sign language and the use of sustainable pineapple-leaf fiber gave the collection another layer of meaning without sacrificing the clothes themselves.

Beyond the collections, the details continued to speak. The ALIENANT x COSTWAY silk scarf, featured within the presenting collection, and KAYALI Vanilla | 28 were among the pieces gifted courtesy of participating brands throughout the day.

A season of strong concepts, considered details, and plenty worth paying attention to.

A few moments from NYMD + NYFW SS27.

New York Men’s Day… from the inside. ⚡️

The first half of NYMD @newyorkmensday at Mercedes-Benz of Manhattan was FAST… and exactly the kind of fashion-week energy I love.

From OUILA @ouilaworld and ALIENANT @alienant_temple making their NYMD debut, to the other designers presenting throughout the morning, every room had its own point of view, its own pace and its own story unfolding.

And then there was everything happening behind the presentation.

@oribe was on hair for every show that day, so getting to watch their team work up close… models moving in and out of chairs, designers making last-minute adjustments, looks coming together minutes before showtime… gave me an entirely different appreciation for how much happens before anyone ever steps in front of the crowd.

Somewhere in the middle of all of that beautiful chaos, I also got to grab a few BTS conversations with designers and models both before and after their presentations.

That was the cherry on top.

A lot of moving pieces.
A lot of creative people.
A lot happening very quickly.

And somehow… those are usually my favorite days.

A little look back at my NYMD @newyorkmensday experience.

I have definitely reached my bandwidth this NYFW. 😂 So while this is a little late, here’s a small glimpse into NYMD and some of my thoughts from a branding, wholesale and styling perspective.

NYMD: THE MORNING SESSION

It’s always fun to meet these amazing designers, see the collections in person, hear the stories behind them, and then think about where they go next.

Thank you to the MR Magazine team, Michael and Brett, for continuing to give me the space to put my perspective into words. I’m still learning and loving every minute of it.

For the SS27 morning session, I spent some time with Alienant, Avon Anglers, Clara Son and Ouila… four very different points of view and four brands I’m excited to keep watching.

Full morning recap is live on MR Magazine. ❤️

Clara Son disturbed tailored clothing through physical gestures that remained visible in the finished garments. Fabric twisted across the torso, seams changed direction and sections were gathered or knotted instead of settling into conventional symmetry. The presentation extended that instability through performance, allowing the clothing to be understood in movement rather than as a sequence of isolated looks. @clarasonstudio approach was most convincing when the intervention remained economical: a controlled fold or displaced fastening could make an otherwise familiar piece feel psychologically unsettled. SS27 continued her interest in menswear as an emotional form, capable of suggesting vulnerability without abandoning structure.
