Ahead of the release of Stephanie Phillip's new book she sat down with @thequietus to talk through some of the content and research that went into it. We'd highly recommend giving this a read! Stephanie looks into Black representation in punk and indie music and interviews numerous people in the music industry including Kele Okereke, the co-founder of Bloc Party, Gary Powell, the only black member of The Libertines, and a conversation with Matthew Morgan, co-founder of Afropunk festival. We’re delighted to mark the release of We Were Here, a reclamation of rock’n’roll for the Black artists who tore up and re-wrote its rules with a book launch event at @pan_pan_______. The event will consist of an In Conversation between Stephanie Phillips and @clarkes_capers, as well as a reading, followed by music and a social. Voce Books will be selling the book at the event, and you’ll have the opportunity to have your book signed. Wednesday 18 November at Pan Pan, Digbeth. Over half the tickets have already sold! Tickets are just £5 and available at @supersonic_fest bio Photo by Anna-Rose McChesney . . . . .

• A.F.H. ISSUE #5 - OUT NOW!!!! • ISSUE 5 (A 72 PAGE BUMPER ISSUE) IS OUT NOW! Mate, where to even begin with the last year and the blast it has been getting to know people through this zine! Combined, the issues are now on over 204,000 online reads, which is straight madness. Thank you so much to every single person who has helped contribute to all of the issues so far. As always, make sure you go and give all these people below some love and show them some appreciation! Also, I keep getting asked about printed copies and I’ve looked about and I can do a limited run which would be around £4 + P&P for issue 5 (72 pages). Is this something that you lot want? If so, can you drop a comment below letting me know to get stuff printed? I’ll then maybe chuck up a preorder that people can help themselves to and then maybe sort out some printed back issues, if people want those too.
