If you enjoyed the @clashofthetitansslam, you'll gonna love this!!!!

@dizztommy and I are back at it again.

Sounds by @kiimikowhite

Looking forward to being the featured artist at The Griot Café this Saturday.

If you've never been, this is one of those spaces where real people share real stories. Poetry, music, spoken word, and good energy all in one room.

Come through, bring somebody with you, and let's make it a good night. If you're performing, I'll be in the audience rooting for you too.

See you tomorrow in Long Beach. 🎤

#AboutLastNight…

I love being an artist so, so much!!!

Since I was a little girl, I knew this was what I was meant to do: CREATE, SHARE, AND HOPEFULLY INSPIRE THROUGH MY ART.

I showed up to Clash of the Titans simply wanting to challenge myself (because as artists, I hope we never stop doing that. We keep stretching, learning, growing, and allowing the work to transform others while it transforms us).

And somehow, I walked away as the Clash of the Titans Champion and highest-scoring poet of the night, y’all!! 🥹🏆

I’m still in awe that I am now a 2x Slam Champion. To step outside of my comfort zone simply wanting to share my art… and walk away with two wins? Only God. 🙏🏾

But the true highlight for me was what happened during round two. I shared my poem “WEIRDO,” and when I looked out, I saw the entire room rise to its feet. Then we all sang “This Little Light of Mine” together. I wish I had footage, y’all, because my HEART!! 🥹

It was powerful. It was beautiful. And it reminded me why I fell in love with poetry.

Why I am an artist.

Stories change people.
Art changes people.
And sometimes, a room full of strangers reminds you not to dim your light.

I also want to honor every poet who stepped onto that stage and shared a piece of themselves with us. It takes courage to stand before a room and offer your truth, and I’m grateful to have been surrounded by such a talented and powerful lineup.

There was room for every voice, every story, and every light.

Thank you for letting my little light shine. 🌹✨

I was the First person eliminated 💀
I can’t believe they gave me a 7 for my performance 🏆
Ironically it’s my favorite number and the number I drew out a random box for placement.
Maybe the judges just couldn’t relate to the words? Idk 😅
Either way It was a dope experience 😎
I’ll win the next one and next after that and so on
I WILL 🏆
I Am Great

Every stage teaches you something new.

For years, poetry has been one of the ways I’ve made sense of the world. It’s how I’ve processed grief, celebrated joy, wrestled with faith, and found healing.

This Friday, I’ll be stepping into a new arena as one of the poets competing in Clash of the Titans II in Long Beach.

While it’s technically a competition, my goal has never been to ‘beat’ another artist. My only competition has always been the woman I was yesterday.

I’m simply grateful for another opportunity to stand behind a microphone, tell the truth, and hopefully leave someone feeling a little less alone than when they walked in.

Wishing every poet taking that stage the very best. May we all honor our stories well.

If you’re in the area, come join us. I’d love to see some familiar faces. ♥️🌹
