The bow is in her hair, her bra, her bed. Carefully placed and culturally loaded, the bow becomes a tool for exploring the complexities of the feminine experience. Whether oversized and pink or gently tucked to the top of her braid, the bow undoubtedly evokes a distinct nostalgia for girlhood. However, when the exaggerated bow appears in pieces like Pillow Princess or Beautifully Handcuffed Bride, childhood affinities are traded in for emotions far more complex. These artists demonstrate how overtime the bow never really leaves us, but continues to engage in the feminine performance in all its girly-girl glory.

In my own girlhood, I rarely felt complete without a bow. When I tucked one into my curly blonde hair it felt like my very own personal crown. To wear a bow was to engage in a particularly feminine ritual of dress that I just had to be a part of. That idea of bow as crown stuck with me, not in the typical regal sense, but rather as a symbol of femininity that continued to grow alongside me. Is the bow the ultimate crown of girlhood?

Featuring work by Mack Brim, Emma Belsham, Claudia Koh, Dominika Kováčiková, Noelia Towers, Paree Rohera, Kelli Vance, Nicole Debono, and Irina Patrusheva.

The Magician by Claudia Koh (2026)

Koh is a Chinese-Singaporean painter and sculptor, who investigates environment as a structure, and how it can provide both comfort and confinement. Hello art lovers,

For 7 years, I have been championing emerging artists and placing their works into collections.

When I was told, “You have no PhD in art history,” I responded: if I wanted a PhD, I would have studied medicine or astrology. As for art, I will write the story of my time.

When I was told, “You are too young and have no experience,” I responded: who said being old automatically makes you knowledgeable? Don’t confuse age with experience, and definitely don’t confuse greed with knowledge.

When I was told, “You are Black. This passion is for old and white men ,” I responded: Black don’t crack. 😂 You forgot who I am, what I am and where I come from. I am the beginning and I will definitely be part of the end.

These 19 artists tell a story of great taste, conviction and artists I have continuously believed in.

Here are 15 artists in the collection who prove to me once again that I am a pretty cool art consultant, celebrating the artists of our time.

Claudia Koh is a painter raised in Singapore, now based in New York, whose work reconstructs the quiet relationships between people, architecture, plants, and domestic life.

Her piece in DUALITIES, The Magician, places a human figure and a fish in parallel enclosures, the apartment and the aquarium, each negotiating containment and connection in their own way.

”Coexistence does not require uniformity.“

🏆 Third Place | Fables in Form International Juried Exhibition

Claudia Koh, Bird’s Eye View, 2025, 91 x 120 cm

Claudia Koh (b. 1999, Singapore) @claudiaakoh is a painter whose practice explores the relationship between human experience, the built environment, and the ecosystems that emerge between them. Drawing inspiration from urban landscapes, domestic spaces, and cultivated environments, her work reflects on the ways individuals navigate structures that simultaneously nurture, organize, and constrain everyday life.

Raised in Singapore, a young city shaped by careful planning and continual cultivation, Koh is interested in the tensions between nature and control, intimacy and regulation, and individuality and collective belonging. Through imagined environments that blend architecture, landscape, and domestic life, she examines themes of resilience, care, and coexistence.
