The last few weeks have been the biggest in my life. Not sure where to start. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to every single person that’s been apart of it all. To everyone that came through to the pop-ups, shared love, secured merch. All this means more to me than I can really explain. I put my life on this record. To each and every person that has touched it or contributed to it in some way there are so many. None of this would be possible without you. @clay_western might call himself a “country bumpkin”, but his music reaches well beyond his small-town roots. Following the reveal of the Mentos Fresh Sounds Class of ’26, curated by Rolling Stone AU/NZ, we caught up with him to chat about his evolving sound, why Australian music needs more bands, and his plans to turn 18 months of groundwork into a larger body of work.

So… what does a Free Event actually look like?

It looks like someone discovering they can surf 🏄 A family spending the day together by the ocean. A volunteer giving their time, and having just as much fun. Strangers becoming mates. And memories that don’t come with a price tag 🩵

Because when an experience is truly free, everyone gets the chance to be part of it. No barriers. No expectations. Just people, the local community and the ocean 🌊

This is what happens when we bring the beach to everyone. This is Ocean Heroes.
