A client recently told me she wished they could have hired me for one of their annual events this past summer, but I was not in their budget. My answer?

“That’s okay! You don’t have to hire me every year.”

And I meant it.

For some recurring events, hiring me every other of even sometimes every 3-5 years can build a collection of strong photographs they can keep using between visits. I have clients still promoting events with images I created well over a decade ago.

That kind of commercial longevity is intentional. Before pressing that shutter I’m thinking about where a photograph might be used, leaving room for wording, watching the background, and creating clean, true-color images that will hold up beyond this year’s editing trend.

I love the science of lighting and the psychology of what makes someone stop, look, and think, “I want to buy that,” or “I want to be there.”

That planning is part of your investment. Photography pricing can vary substantially, and so can what you receive. A large collection of event snapshots and then a carefully crafted collection of reusable marketing images serve different needs. The number of files alone won’t tell you their value.

And this applies to weddings, too. You chose those flowers and colors for a reason. Do they retain their natural beauty in the photographs, or does a heavy filter turn the greenery nearly black? Are skin tones natural? Can you see the detail in that dress you fell in love with?

There’s a photographer for every budget. My encouragement is to shop portfolios as carefully as you shop prices. Look at complete galleries, ask questions, and think about what you want those photographs to do for you.

Sometimes their value become even clearer years down the road, when you’re still using them, still displaying them, and still loving what you see. 🤍

Kanye may have been in town, but the real party was at @167eventschicago celebrating Rachel & Michael! As R’s dad would say, she is a bright light, the most infectious of people and a true love build over a decade of chance encounters. We were all smiles, all day long, and never got tired of it. So blessed to step into family and friend groups like they have, couldn’t be happier to share my days with such love and support. Cheers you two, I love who you are and what we got to share this last year. Mazel!

You don’t remember your wedding because everything happened on schedule.

You remember the quiet moments.

The deep breath before you walk down the aisle.

The hug from your grandparents.

The laughter during cocktail hour.

The way your partner looked at you after the ceremony.

Those moments don’t happen by accident.

They’re protected by intentional planning.

A thoughtful timeline doesn’t make your day feel rigid—it creates room for the memories that matter most.

Because your wedding shouldn’t feel like a checklist.

It should feel like the best day of your life.

🤍

If you’re looking for a planner who values the experience just as much as the details, I’d love to help you create a day that’s beautifully planned and fully lived.
