Day one of star of Australia! What a blast and I’m so proud of myself for speaking up about my journey that hasn’t always been easy! It’s been a roller coaster but I’m so blessed to have this platform to support, help and raise awareness for my cleft family! Come with me for a real, raw hospital day — cleft edition.

For those who are new here — hi, I’m Zieana! I was born with a cleft and palate, and that means my journey has had lots of hospital visits, surgeries, and appointments. Some days are easy, some days are big and scary, but every single one is a step forward in my story.

Today I wanted to show you what a hospital some what looks like for a cleft kiddo — the waiting rooms, the kind nurses, the check-ups, the deep breaths. I know it can feel lonely and overwhelming, especially for other kids and parents watching this who are on their own cleft journey. If that’s you — I see you. You are so strong. You are not alone. 🤍

I make these videos to raise awareness, to show support to all my fellow cleft warriors, cleft families, and to everyone who has ever had to be a little braver than other kids. Your scars tell a story of strength. Your difference is your superpower. ✨

I was born with a cleft lip and palate. I was told I would be different, that I would struggle to smile, to speak, to be confident.

But this is my fight song. 🩷

This smile you see today? It took surgeries, tears, years of speech therapy, bullying, and learning to love the face that makes me ME.

If you’re watching this and you were born with a cleft, or your baby was — please just listen to what I say. You own your life song. Turn your light back on.

Your scar is not your flaw, it’s your superpower. Your smile is beautiful, exactly as it is.

Hi everyone! 💖💙✨

It’s me, Zieana Smith! I wanted to come on here and properly introduce myself and share something really special and close to my heart.

As many of you know, I was born with a cleft, just like a lot of other beautiful, strong kids out there. It’s a big part of who I am, and I’m so proud of my smile and my journey. It’s taught me to be brave, to be kind, and to be confident even when things feel hard.

I’ve wanted to do something to help other kids and families who have clefts just like me. I know sometimes it can feel a bit lonely or scary, and I never want anyone else to feel alone.

A little look back at the Cleft Family Community Picnic 🤍

A few weeks ago, New Moon Speech and Language had the opportunity to be a part of a local picnic bringing together children and families in the cleft and craniofacial community of North Atlanta.

It was such a special evening of connection, play, and community – and a wonderful reminder of how meaningful it is for families to have opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences.

Thank you to Cleft Family Support Foundation for hosting the event and allowing us to co-host. I am so grateful New Moon was able to be a part of it and I look forward to continuing to support and connect with cleft families in our community. 🌙
