AHJ Project Feature • @pierre.yovanovitch @danielhumm
A design destination reborn in West Village. Step inside Humm New York; chef Daniel Humm’s deeply personal culinary residence on Hudson Street, brought to life through the creative vision of French interior designer Pierre Yovanovitch and artist Francesco Clemente. Housed in the former EN Japanese Brasserie space, the 5,000-square-foot sanctuary bridges 1980s-inspired architectural postmodernism with the nostalgic grandeur of Manhattan’s iconic hotel lounges.

Across the carousel, the visual narrative unfolds through a series of thoughtfully curated environments, moving from the light-filled front bar, punctuated by sculptural high-top tables and custom deep-blue millwork, to the atmospheric, burgundy-doused lounge and candlelit main dining room.

The spatial design balances dramatic scale with intimate touchpoints, anchoring the experience around a monumental, plaster-and-tile wood-fired hearth and Clemente’s sweeping 1,200-square-foot ceiling fresco that crowns the main hall. Grounded by custom velvet seating, rich terracotta palettes, and raw-textured artworks, each shot highlights a masterclass in modern hospitality craft, reflecting a shared story of creative collaboration between friends.

Where the cocktails match the murals. @theclementebar

Ordered the Momo Gari, Break Night, 30th Century, D.L.T, and the Thrice Fried Potatoes.

Surrounded by Francesco Clemente’s art and some seriously good drinks and bites.

On Saturday, @hummrestaurant opened its doors to the world. It’s been beyond amazing to watch as this beautiful space came to life, and I’m so grateful I got to be a part of it. (I’m also so glad I can talk about the stunning details, I’ve been bursting at the seams for months.) Working on this restaurant with such an incredible team has been a true career highlight. I’m thrilled we can finally share it with you ❤️

New York’s wine bars and cocktail lounges offer contrasting settings for an evening out. In this selection, the intimacy of a small counter sits alongside rooms with a more theatrical approach to colour and form. Some are designed around artwork or hi-fi listening, while others connect quieter seating with spaces for dancing, allowing the atmosphere to change over the course of a visit.
