It's true that this year was like no other. The vignerons I met with during my three weeks in Champagne (about 16 in total) were optimistic, although some also expressed the uncertainty from an unprecedented vintage. Chardo probably got the worst of it this year in terms of expressing itself in a tropical manner. But it's not off-putting, just different. There's still adequate acid and oftentimes, soil driven tension to add freshness. The loss of fruit from spring frosts and successive heat waves led to very low yields and thus, hyper concentrated, intense wines. I write all this by way of high level summaries. Expect to see a fair amount of variation from one grower to the next. Terroir, soil, vine vigor age and root depth, and lastly harvest date, will be the driving factors. I'll be going back in February and April next year and am looking forward to seeing how the wines evolve, but overall I'm pretty optimistic.

September 12, 2026. The best day of my life. I’ve tried to write this so many times, and every single time I cry. I don’t know if I’ll ever really have the words for what this weekend meant to us. We spent three days in my favorite place in the world. My heart, my home — Provence. With 30 of the people we love most in this life, at @mas.de.chabran a place that has become such a big part of our story. I don’t think I was prepared for what it would feel like to look around that weekend and see our entire lives in one place. The people who knew us as children. The people who watched us grow up. The people we’ve met along the way who somehow became family. All of them traveled across the world to be there for us. There were so many moments where I just stopped and looked around because I knew, even while I was living it, that I would spend the rest of my life wishing I could come back to that exact moment. I wish I could bottle it. I wish I could keep everyone there forever. I wish I could live those three days a thousand more times. And Clément. My husband. I don’t even know where to begin. You are my guiding light. All of my colors. My safest place and my greatest adventure. You are home to me in a way I didn’t know another person could be.
