EYE OF THE STORM 🌪️

What an amazing day. 💙

Eye of the Storm was our presentation around climate change, but also a play on the glare of envy, with unity, creativity and coming together at the heart of it all. Influenced by Peter Minshall's 1983 River presentation

To Dynamic Sounds and René, none of this would have been possible without you. And so much love to Shelisha, Adrian, Jim, Colin, Antoinette, Sonia, the beautiful Letisha and Emma for helping me pull it all together.

A huge thank you to Lost Tribe for gifting us their STUNNING backpacks. We took reusing and recycling to another level.

Thank you Sally, V&A Storehouse for helping us hold our workshops, Lewis Greener and Denzel for capturing the day so beautifully, and K, who did absolutely everything and was there supporting us throughout.

We had the best DJs from Duka, Dynamic Mas; Karl, Sketch, Sauve, Kiid, Vern, Sterling Reigns, Wally and Djam.

And a BIG shout out to the tastiest rum, Hawksbill Spiced Rum, we definitely had the best rum punch on the road! 🥃🌴

Most of all, THANK YOU to everyone who played mas with Vibrance and brought Eye of the Storm to life.

What a day. What a vibe. What a blast. 💙🌪️

@climatechangeartuk posts: Helen the mermaid is life-size, and made from beach finds, including fishing rope, net and line. She’s a community project I’ve been doing with @berwickshiremarinereserve and community groups.

Together with @scottishcoastalcleanup we’ve been working to raise awareness of the problem of plastic pollution on our coastlines. We’ve put together an exhibition of work from local artists made out of collected marine plastics which will be on display for the whole month of August. We’d like to invite you down on Thursday evening, the 30th of July, at 6.30pm for the opening night where you can meet the artists and see their work.

The local artists exhibiting are:
Roxy Russel - @roxyrussell.co.uk
Emma Ferla - @referlished
Caroline Appleyard - @climatechangeartuk
Anne Dearlove Sampson - @annedearlovesampson
Lynn Callaghan

Thank you to @el_climate_hub for their support.

Delightful after-work swim (with a bit of rock scrambling to get to the sea) 🌊. The perfect way to cool down 😎

Fourth and final day of the Bracadale Beach Blitz saw 10 volunteers tackle the far side of the loch which we started cleaning on Thursday afternoon.
In just over 3 hours we removed over 1/2 tonne of rubbish back to Portnalong using the Scottish Coastal Clean Up boat.
In the afternoon while some of the group finished off that clean, five of us returned to Loch Eynort to retrieve yesterday's beach clean litter to the skip provided by The Highland Council. With the help of the local crofter and his argocat we had all the litter removed in just 2 hours.
The total for the Loch Eynort clean over the 2 days was 2 1/2 tonnes.

Over the last 4 days the total amount of beach litter removed was conservatively 4 tonnes.

3rd day of the Bracadale Beach Blitz with Scottish Coastal Clean Up.

Today the 14 volunteers split into 3 groups to tackle Loch Eynort.

I was part of the team that walked in and tackled the East side of the loch. By 4 0 clock we had gathered up over 1.5 tonnes of rubbish, which will be brought out tomorrow and added to the skip of material collected by the other 2 teams.
