Last week, 30 volunteers and neighbors collaborated on a planting on the Jim Ingwersen Studio & Gallery property. We planted nearly 200 trees on the trails at the east end of the property. Tree species included sugar maple, red oak, quaking aspen, paper birch, tamarack, red pine, white pine, and white spruce! . . . #PenArt #DoorCountyArt #doorcountywi

We are excited to share that we still have a few spots for our Climate Arts Lab for this Fall! A partnership between the Climate Change Coalition of Door County and PenArt, the Earth + Climate Arts Lab is led by Jill Newman and designed to inspire a deeper appreciation for the natural world by blending artistic exploration with earth and climate science. Students experiment with a variety of art materials while honing their skills in painting, drawing, collage, and sculpture - both individually and collaboratively. The program culminates in a showcase celebrating students' creative work. The Fall session for Door County homeschool students ages 5-8 begins Oct. 13, and a few spots remain. Registration is open and full scholarships are available. All classes are held at PenArt. More info at: penart.org/youthandteen/earth-climate-art-lab . . . #PenArt #DoorCountyArt #DoorCountyWI

As promised, here’s your guide to composting across Door County. If you’re not near Mighty Wind Farms, there are still plenty of easy ways to keep food waste out of the landfill. The Door County Climate Change Coalition has created a network of 13 compost drop-off locations throughout the peninsula, making it incredibly convenient no matter where you’re staying. I’ve included a map here so you can find the spot closest to you (graphic courtesy of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County). Whether you’re in a rental, at your own home, or just cooking more during your visit, composting is a simple step that makes a big impact. It helps reduce waste and transforms food scraps into nutrient-rich soil that supports local growing. It’s one of those small habits that feels really good to be part of—especially in a place as naturally beautiful as this. Save this post for later and consider making composting part of your Door County routine. #DoorCounty #CompostDoorCounty #SustainableLiving #ClimateAction

You can truly create your own farm-to-table experience here in Door County, and one of my favorite stops is Mighty Wind Farms. Their self-serve farm stand is stocked throughout the day, so there’s no need to plan around hours—just stop by and see what’s fresh. Payment is easy with Venmo or cash, and they even have change available. What makes this place even more special is their commitment to sustainability. Mighty Wind Farms is part of the Climate Change Coalition of Door County and one of 13 locations across the peninsula where you can compost. It’s such a simple, accessible way to reduce food waste and give back to the soil. I’ve shared a map in my next post so you can easily find a drop-off spot. If you’re staying locally—whether in your own home or a rental with a kitchen—it’s incredibly easy to participate. And you’ll be amazed how quickly those compost bins fill up. So far this season, I’ve been enjoying radishes, green beans, lettuces, potatoes, and the most beautiful basil. Cucumbers and eggplant are just coming in now, too. I’ve already made a burrata peach salad with fresh basil and some delicious pesto—simple, seasonal, and so satisfying. This is what summer food should feel like. #DoorCountyEats #FarmToTableLiving #SupportLocalFarms #CompostCommunity

We’d love to share that we’ve officially joined the Climate Change Coalition of Door County’s Climate Forward Business Program! 🌿 At CAMP Door County, we believe that protecting the places we love is just as important as enjoying them. That’s why we’re committed to taking practical, measurable steps to reduce our environmental impact and help preserve the natural beauty of Door County for future generations. At the campground, we: 1. Have Native and Pollinator fields and trails 2. Prioritize sustainable and minority owned sourcing 3. Have mountain biking trails 4. Offer free bike rentals with your stay 5. Offer educational opportunities for guests and the public 6. Use local mulch and firewood 7. Transplant trees instead of cutting down for paths and sites 8. Donate excess food to a local food bank As a Climate Forward Business, we’re proud to stand alongside other local businesses making sustainability a priority. Whether you’re planning your next adventure or looking to support businesses that share your values, every choice makes a difference. Together, we can keep Door County beautiful—one thoughtful step at a time. 💚 **We would like to acknowledge one of the images previously posted, was an older photo from before we removed the lights from our trees.
