Last week, YCCBC joined the conversation at the 2026 Canadian EPR Forum in Québec City.

Our Communications & Marketing Director, Eymie Labbé, participated in a panel exploring the role young people can play in advancing climate and circular-economy solutions across Canada.

For YCCBC, the opportunity is clear: communities and organizations already have important environmental goals and projects they want to move forward, and young people can bring additional capacity, energy and skills to help turn those plans into action.

From waste and materials audits, reuse and repair initiatives, and public education to data collection, community outreach and identifying barriers to participation, there are many ways Youth Climate Corps teams can support local action while gaining meaningful, paid experience and pathways into climate-related careers.

The conversation was also an important reminder that building a more sustainable economy requires more than good policy and infrastructure; it requires people with the skills and opportunities to do the work.

Thank you to the @canadianeprforum for inviting YCCBC into the conversation and for creating space to explore how youth employment, workforce development and environmental action can reinforce one another.

We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations and exploring where Youth Climate Corps can help partners turn environmental priorities into practical projects on the ground.

📣We did it!

When we started out, we set a goal to have at least 10% of events organized by youth (less under 35), to ensure youth representation in Montréal Climate Week and their vital role in climate action.

We are so happy to share that we almost tripled our objective, with 28% of events youth-led. This would have never been possible without Montreal’s youth mobilizing so quickly.
