METALLICA: Part 2 Interlude - So the concert being a two day event it had a lot of ancillary events tied to it, one being the Metallica pop up shop. I ended up going both Saturday and Sunday showing up the morning after getting my face melted off by Kirk Hemmett and getting 3 hours of sleep. I'm glad I got there early because the line was 1000 deep at least when they opened. I was able to pull both limited edition posters I wanted and the limited edition vinyl that had a print run of 500 and 250 respectively. Fuck yeah. 🤘

My history with Metallica has been a complicated one. They were the first band I truly was obsessed with when I first got into music. I'd listen to them non stop for hours from age 12 on. They were my first concert ever at age 16 when my mom got me tickets for my birthday to the Summer Sanitarium tour. But then came Napster, my friends backlash against them, St Anger (which remains my least favorite album by them to this day) and growing my musical tastes in college to a more expansive grasp of music all contributed to me somewhat falling out of love with them.

Ever since I bought those tickets, revisiting my youth discovering music which, no hyperbole, saved my life during that time, coupled with everything else I've been doing this year has really brought a lot full circle. I will never forget this feeling, and the growth giving my inner child what it needed all those years ago can bring.

I did a couple other things like head over to Malibu that weekend, hit up Carneys in Studio City, watch Jurassic Park (again) and catch my friend Brandon's Nerdy Birthday party at a gaming hall of all places. Talk about full circle. 😄

One final note, I posted about my metal tattoo last post but I want to give extra shout out to @littledaveparker, who did an incredible job giving me exactly what I asked for in what can only be described as the first impulse tattoo of my life. The little details, the knuckle tattoos to represent my favorite metal bands, the Metallica M "Mom heart" are all exactly what I wanted. Thanks again Dave!

It was bath day and I wasn't having it! Good thing Dad didn't have to clip my nails this time or I would have really lost it. Last pic is me so fresh and so clean.

It's been a long and strange school year this go around. I had a lot of great memories and experiences, with a fair share of rough, challenging times. I really found a work home for the first time in a couple of years at my current school, and it was bittersweet to say goodbye to students, colleagues and friends on the last day of classes today.

Seeing students I've been working with the last two years graduating to Jr. High was exceedingly rewarding and fun for me. If I do decide in the next couple of months to move on from teaching, I will look back fondly on my time at 24th street as one of the most rewarding times of my teaching career.

Included is a pic of my vampire red dye job that made me even more popular around campus (I'm a fucking rockstar to these kids because I do not look like the other teachers).

I have vids/pics from possibly my final class graduation ceremony. Awww the kids look sharp in their fancy outfits.

We also had our Staff vs Students annual kickball game. We gave every kid in the graduating 4th grade class a chance to kick, so staff had to get 104 outs to the students 6 for two innings. We still destroyed them 27-8. So for as much as we build them up, it was nice to put them in their place. Ohhh I was talking a LOT of trash and a fair amount of hitting them with the John Cena when I got them out. 🤣

There is also a video of our student talent show carnival where the kids got to play games for prizes, dunk teachers at a dunk tank (thank God I got out of it this year, it was windy and relatively cold lol) and get snacks. We even had student performers like mimes and ventriliquists. Great super fun event.

Finally I have a couple shots of the Indy boi. He's got me home for at least two weeks all to himself and I can't wait for sleeping in late doggo time cuddles tomorrow. I am going to make plans for illicit activities and my upcoming Vegas trip just as soon as my brain is unmelted from everything today. 🙌

So, for this post I'm going back a minute to April for the real early kick off for my Summer of Clint's Youth. Just to get current I'm going to do a catch up post or three, just to touch on some of the stuff that has been leading to recent events.

I decided, with my friends Christian and Amanda, to purchase season passes to Universal Studios to check out the new Super Nintendo World. I used to go a lot for years with my ex, and to be honest it took a while for me to not associate this place with her. So I haven't been back in a couple of years. Even though it was madness and crazy crowded, the World was incredible. The attention to detail fabulous and it felt like you stepped right into your favorite Mario game. The kart ride was solid, but it took me a second to get a hold of the combat system, so I'm sure I'll do better next time now that I know what I'm in for.

I also decided to go to the WWE Raw event after Wrestlemania. I used to be very into wrestling when I was a younger kid into my teenage years and I had never gotten the opportunity to see a live event while I was a fan. I always wanted to go, so this time I figured I'd bite the bullet and check it out. I have not watched more than an hour or two leading up to Wrestlemania, so I didn't have any idea about the storylines, but what the hell.

Being the show after Wrestlemania, there was a great exhibit showcasing wrestling costumes and props of the past, including Ric Flair, Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart etc. There was a rumor that The Rock was going to show up, but that turned out not to be the case, which was half the reason I went. However, all the champions, Roman Reigns, Rhea Ripley, Seth Rollins, Cody Rhodes and Brock Lesnar all showed up and came out to roaring applause. Triple H even came out and shot a promo. Plus, I got to see Bad Bunny get chokeslammed through a table, so all in all totally a fun and worthwhile event. I would definitely go to another live show in the future.

Lovely night out in LA with a lovely date. 🥰

I cooked some Tri Tip with roasted brussel sprouts and butter sautéed carrots. I think I'm getting pretty good at this. Look at that hunk of meat! And I'm not talking about the chap in the lifejacket. 🤤
