Today on International Day of Human Rights, over 3000 Australian creative artists have become unified in ‘Australia’, a colonised country built on the genocide and dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We, the artists, producers, front of house staff, audiences & beyond who keep this industry alive are calling for a permanent ceasefire and the end of occupation of Palestine. Over 20,000 civilians have been murdered. This is a genocide. If you’d like to show your support, sign the letter in my bio. #creativesforpalestine #freepalestine

Hello Friends! Are you curious about the techniques and methodologies that we use to make our work? Introducing our brand new 3-day Intensive Performance Workshop ‘The Absurd Space’. Coming this October 27th-29th at Readymade Works in Ultimo and facilitated by yours truly, this workshop is suitable for theatre makers, performance artists and creators and those keen to interrogate devising story through improvisation and clown.   Our body of work is renowned for its use of juxtaposition to create absurdist worlds. We lift the curtain to reveal our process of devising through subversion and heightened play.  Create physical improvisations that draw on elements of the clown to illuminate the absurdities of human existence and find logic amidst chaos! This workshop has been a long time in the making and will be sure to be a blast so come and enjoy the mayhem! We, Emily and Maddy, are both graduates of the Jacques Lecoq school and this pedagogy informs our practice. Get in quick and take advantage of our Early Bird Special available until October 4th - $375 which provides $55 off the full price. Link in bio. If you have any questions please feel free to DM us or email us at education@clockfirecreativelab.com Hope to see you soon! We feel genuinely replenished from the sense of ensemble achieved with these excellent participants who came and so generously delved with us into the dramatic territory of ‘le mélodrame’. Together we came face to face with the struggles and tragedies of human kind, and realised a showing which actually moved our audience to tears… Here are a few captured moments. Huge thanks to all that came along and see you next time! Emily and Maddy #theatre #clockfiretheatre #clockfirecreativelab #workshop #sydney #melodrama #readymade #lecoq #jacqueslecoq

A huge portion of 'Le Mélodrame' intensive will focus on devising skills through ensemble collaboration. If you know our work or have worked with us before, you'll know that the nature of ensemble is at the heart of our process and that we follow very closely Lecoq's teachings of complicité (a sense of togetherness), disponibilité (a sense of openness) and le jeu (a sense of play). We particularly love this quote from Simon Murray's book on Jacques Lecoq about ensemble - 'True ensemble is not ultimately about the ability of, say, fifteen pertormers to remember their lines, listen to cues, reach an agreed spot on stage at the precise moment, or to keep tightly in time with each other during a dance or movement routine. The spirit of ensemble communicates itself to an audience when there is a palpable sense of all those performers all being complicit - of colluding - in the deed of daring to create and present a show to spectators. … a process of 'collective  imagining', a state that is only possible, one supposes, if it is prefigured by a genuine complicité.' ✨ If you have been wanting to experience working as an ensemble, to engage and collaborate with new artists then this workshop is for you! 5 days remain to catch our earlybird offer.
