Kelly Anderson had been fostering kittens for 15 years, before she adopted Chai, a beautiful cream Ragdoll.

When her beloved Chai died suddenly, the heartbroken cat mum decided to pay to clone her. Kelly took out a loan to finance the procedure, which resulted in Belle.

But did Belle turn out the same as Chai? Would you clone a pet? Click the link in bio to read Kelly's full story 🐈

Part of a feature story about pet cloning I wrote and photographed for FUTUR Magazine by @usbek_et_rica

1. Kelly Anderson poses for a portrait in Austin, TX, United States, October 11, 2024. Kelly cloned her Ragdoll cat Chai after she unexpectedly passed away in 2017. She had to take a loan and wait for four years before she finally got to meet Chai’s clone, named Belle @clonekitty.
« I never wanted to bring Chai back from the dead or replicate her. I just wanted to carry on a piece of her. »

2. Kelly Anderson shows tattoos of Belle (left) and her clone Chai (right), in Austin, TX, United States, October 11, 2024.
