Have you ever tried to wash and blow dry your own dog? Cut their nails, and brush and comb out their knots and then style it using clippers and scissors whilst it’s wriggling? How long did it take? Maybe 3-4 hours?

Then multiply this by 70-80 dogs each week (thank goodness for my talented small team for being my backbone!).

Add the pressure of meeting customer expectations, and time demand of achieving a full groom in 2 hours.

Being a groomer is not a role for the faint hearted. I’ve been pooped and peed on and bitten more times than you can imagine, not to mention had many moments of “if I don’t laugh, I will cry”.

Throw in aggressive dogs that bite and thrash throughout the entire groom, and anxious dogs that cry or bark for hours on end.

Not to mention, the ‘joy’ of customer rejections because their dog moved throughout the entire groom and they didn’t get the haircut they requested.

As well as the pressure of having to make every groom perfect, and keep each customer happy.

How do I find solace during these times? It’s moments like this video, when I quietly reach out to my trusted fluffy friends for their love and affection. And in an instant, my heart is full again.

Thank you to our little Obi, for lifting my spirit today and reminding me exactly why I chose to be a groomer.

Despite some gruelling days, I honestly find it such an honour to be groomer to so many amazing dogs. Seriously the best job ever!

We love all puppies, but we aren’t kidding when we say that Neo is perfect! My amazing dress maker turned baker friend @oanhmacouturecakes and her sister @cloudettedesign brought Neo in recently. For his first groom, Neo allowed us to do absolutely everything with total trust. From washing to blow drying, nail clipping, brushing and combing, Neo sat completely still and even gave little kisses at the end.

A very warm welcome, Neo, to you and your beautiful humans for joining our fur community. We can’t wait to watch you grow into a good little boy ✨
