Made a first time visit to Cloud Wildlife Hide recently. A cracking little set up, nestled in beautiful countryside on the edge of the Peak District and run by a top bloke by the name of Olly - he couldn’t do enough for me on my visit and even carried my somewhat weighty camera bag up to the hide, so that this fat-knacker could find the climb a little easier!
He put out all the feed for the woodland birds and of course, hopefully, the star of the show, the buzzards and then left me to it.

The light wasn’t best ever and, as usual, camera settings were constantly changing to try and get the best possible results. Around mid-morning, my day was made with the arrival of a juvenile buzzard that stayed and fed in front of me for about 20 mins and only left after being constantly mobbed by an aggressive group of magpies! I got loads of shots but haven’t had the chance to go through them all as yet, though I have included a sample shot 😉 I’ll hopefully sort my buzzard shots over the next couple of days and post some up here👍

These pics are just a handful of many that can be had whilst waiting for the buzzards or sparrowhawks to put in an appearance.

If you like hide photography or just for bird watching, get in touch with Olly, he’s a true gent and he can be contacted via WhatsApp, the details of which can be found on the Cloud Wildlife Hide Facebook page or Google 👍

Puffins are most commonly nicknamed the “sea parrot” and the “clown of the sea. This beautiful bird spends the spring and summer liveing and breeding around selected locations around the United Kingdom
.
Rare white puffin spotted on Handa Island | Scottish
...
Puffins are not totally rare in terms of total population numbers in the UK, but seeing one can be difficult because they are localized to specific coastal colonies and are on the RSPB Red List for high conservation concer

Numbers: Hundreds of thousands of pairs breed in the UK, but populations have dropped by roughly 25% over the last twenty years.

Good spots include Skomer Island in Wales, the Farne Islands in Northumberland, and Bempton Cliffs in Yorkshire, are the locations I would Skomer island I would recommend for the best location to get close and I mean close at one stop if you sit down on the grass they will come visit you to within 5 feet an experience never to forgot.
