Goodbye Teutopolis golf. It was truly a blessing to be apart of such a great program for the last four years. I can’t describe how much fun I had with the team. Thanks to my parents, teammates, and coaches for supporting me the whole way. #blessed #teutopolis #signingoff

A summer of reflection and hard work was how Teutopolis graduate Coen Pennington prepared for his upcoming senior season.

He knew he needed to take his game up one level for his team to have any shot at winning a state championship.

Pennington proved himself correct, helping the Wooden Shoes win their first state championship in boys golf in school history.

The putter was the main area of focus for him during the offseason.

“My putting improved tremendously over the spring and into the summer, so when the high school season came around, I was confident over every putt,” Pennington said. “I thought I could make every one I looked at.”

Pennington finished second overall as an individual at the state tournament. He shot a two-over-par 74 on the first day and an even-par 72 on the second.

The 2025 Effingham Daily News Boys Golf Player of the Year, Pennington finished the season with an impressive 70.9 scoring average in 18-hole events and a 34.3 scoring average in 9-hole matches.

POV: GOLF THROUGH META GLASSES IS INSANE… THEN YOU DRAIN A 50-FOOTER. 🤯

Some people leave it 10 feet short from here.
Other people have Bigga Balls. 🤫

YOU HEARD THE MAN, BIGGA BALLS GO THE EXTRA MILE. 🔥🤘

@tommysull2030 doesn’t just hit golf balls, he sends them on a flight plan. ✈️💯

With consistent 300+ yard drives and an absolutely ridiculous sound off the face, Tommy makes distance look easy.

At this rate, we’re going to have to start putting postage on them. 😳

Keep bombing ’em, Tommy. 💣
