In honor of #ArtsInEducationWeek, we're highlighting a recent Arts Education graduate who just entered her first teaching job! 🎨🍎 Carolina León Figueroa '26 is the art teacher at Eastway Middle School in Charlotte 🏫 "Education in the arts is so vital to a child's academic experience, as it provides a space where students who may often struggle to be understood the ability to express themselves," says @created_by_carolina. "The arts not only teach you to be a creative individual, they also teach life skills such as critical thinking, collaboration, independence and discipline. These skills, and an artistic way of thinking, can help mold students into deep thinkers who use their perspectives and imaginations to solve problems outside of the arts. Every child has the potential to be creative and it is our job as art educators to give them tools that will help them be successful in both the arts and everyday life!" Turn a boring worksheet into a high-energy classroom experience with “Take-It or Leave-It!” 🎲🔥 Students work in teams, answer questions, and earn points—but here’s where it gets fun… they have to decide: Do we take the risk or play it safe? After each correct answer, teams choose to “Take-It” (risk it for more points… or lose them 😬) or “Leave-It” (keep things safe but gain nothing). Then the teacher rolls the dice… 🎲 Even roll?
