Fascinating afternoon, learning about the history of the museum and looking at different forms of decorative art. Also dealing with the dichotomy of amazing work and the unhappy origins of the materials - in this particular case the ivory lantern. And where is the line/join between decorative and fine art and where does craft fit in? So many questions - it’s going to be an interesting ten weeks! #edinburghart #nationalmuseumofscotland #universityofedinburgh #scottishartist #scotlandart
