What a day! My mama heart is so full. My oldest, David, made the decision to be baptized yesterday.

As a mama, I’ve prayed for each of my children that they would know God and desire to be a part of His Kingdom before they leave our home. I’ve watched the Lord work on David’s heart for many years, and I’ve also learned that God’s work isn’t forced. It’s in His perfect timing.

When David called me after lunch yesterday to tell me he wanted to be baptized, I wept. That’s not a word I use often… usually it’s “cry.” But, in all honesty, I wept.

I wept because this decision came through the Holy Spirit working through prayer, his brother Jack, and a dear friend, Chris Maxwell. To hear David’s testimony of why he chose to be baptized is something I’ll never forget. They asked him to share it at church last night before his baptism.

David had actually asked us to come to the service beforehand, which is usually just for the kids, and I’m so thankful we did. It gave me the chance to hear his testimony for the very first time and record that moment… one neither Matthew nor I had heard before. I’ve included that video in the photos below because it’s something I’ll treasure forever. (I made the video a reel since it wouldn’t post the whole thing here.)

He did.

And in doing so, he led others to desire to be baptized as well.

What a moment.

Standing in my kitchen last night, I talked with David and Jack about how sometimes we pray for others and don’t always see the results we’re hoping for. But that doesn’t mean the Lord isn’t working. Jack had been faithfully praying for David, and the Holy Spirit worked through Jack to help lead David. Then, through David’s testimony, the Holy Spirit worked again to draw others to Him.

Wow.

Watching the people, leaders, boys, and men who encircled my son last night is something that has forever impacted me.

Thank You, Lord.

My heart is filled with so much gratitude right now. Who would’ve thought that a simple conversation on the 18th fairway at Pines Crossing would turn into the first ever Auburn Ryder Cup.

These are the moments in life I never want to take for granted, the gift of community and the friends the Lord has placed in my life. May I never lose sight of how special it is to spend time with good friends, surrounded by God’s creation, playing the wonderful game of golf.

It was an honor to serve as the Navy captain, and although it didn’t go our way in the end, I had the time of my life.
