How lucky am I to have something that hurts this much when I fall just short? How lucky am I to care this deeply, to be this close, and to have something worth fighting for? Yesterday was a bit of a heartbreaker. I had some really clear process goals to cross off out on course yesterday and when I nailed every single one, it felt like the result so very close. I was in a group fighting for Top-10 and exactly where I needed to be to contend for Top-10 in the overall series as well, when, on an uphill, at mile 70, I got a flat. I rode it with sealant spraying out everywhere, saying out loud, “come on, come on, come on” until it was fully flat. I was able to get it plugged with 2 plugs and get back on my way. I fought like crazy to get back to the group, and I caught a few stragglers but it was too late in the race. I finished the Grand Prix out in the painful 11th place. But I’m grateful. Not everyone gets to feel the pain of “almost.”And maybe that pain is a privilege in itself. The joy in focusing on the process is knowing that the result is just a byproduct. Now I get a quick turnaround and head to Tanzania in just 5 days for the journey I’ve been prepping for all year.

What a weekend…

This will always be one of my favorite races, and I am so glad I got enough points to upgrade to Cat 1. Thank you @cmileski_coaching and @south_side_xc for preparing me for this event and weekend of racing. I cannot wait to see what mtb racing will bring me next year, now onto the fall of gravel —>

2025 wrapped

Lots of new journeys, starting the last year of high-school, kept up on the bike, and my wisdom teeth are gone.
