Having stood along the banks of the Vltava River in Prague, it is such a pleasure to now have the opportunity to conduct Smetena’s The Moldau live.

Our students have really bought into this piece, and I believe Thursday’s concert in Staples will be a wonderful showcase of the growth in ensemble musicianship they have achieved throughout the semester.

Putting the finishing touches on this barnburner of a piece I’m writing for @cbartelstrombone, @cmumusicschool Wind Ensemble, and a consortium of 10 high school bands across the Midwest!

Can’t wait to hear Cole absolutely demolish this challenging material later this year. It’s been a true pleasure working with him and getting to write something so extensive for the tenor trombone (for whatever reason, most of my solo compositions are for bass). More trombone music coming soon!

Matheus worked this week at @cmumusicschool ‘s Summer Camp, for 4 days, with high school students. Some of them had instruments lessons only at school. It’s very impressive the level they reached in these 4 days. As there were only violins and violas students, Matheus entered with his technology and made the cello’s on a 7-string electric violin. He introduced Mourão, by Guerra Peixe to them, bringing the Brazilian sauce to these American students.
