John Michael is caught between timelines. While scrolling through old texts, he ricochets through childhood soulmates and queer awakenings as he tries to reconcile the grief of losing two friends to fentanyl poisoning. But this isn’t another tragic tale. This trauma‑clown odyssey takes audiences on a wild ride where grief and absurdity collide so hard they spark cathartic laughter. Narcan Time Machine pushes theatre to its limits: part sci‑fi scramble, part slapstick meltdown, part communal intervention. With audience participation and a live Narcan demonstration, the show confronts the opioid crisis with empathy, urgency, and a wild sense of hope — distributing more than 4,250 life‑saving kits to date.

Narcan Time Machine has a run time of 60 minutes and will be followed by a 30-minute talkback with creator/performer @jmsilly and a representative from @preventionpoint moderated by @cmupha. RSVP at the link in our bio!

"Sometimes just creating joy with one another is some of the best healing that we can have."

Meet Cody Ortiz Oldham (they/them/elle), a first-generation scholar and health specialist at CMU! Originally from Denver, Colorado, Cody embraces a vibrant and multifaceted identity as Chicano, Indigenous (Hopi, Sandia, and Mexican American with roots in Chihuahua), Two-Spirit, and disabled, bringing unique perspectives to their advocacy and work.

As a Two-Spirit individual, an LGBTQ+ identity unique to Indigenous people, Cody sees the world through both feminine and masculine lenses, fostering a deep understanding of diverse mindsets. For Cody, being Two-Spirit isn’t just an identity but also a spiritual path that guides their work in social justice and healing. It connects them to a sacred role found in many Indigenous tribes, where Two-Spirit people traditionally served as counselors or medicine people, a path Cody felt deeply connected to from a young age. Being Two-Spirit also means Cody sees themselves as a conduit for unity and healing, using the duality of their identity to embrace compassion and empathy. Through their work, Cody creates spaces where every individual feels valued and supported.

At Carnegie Mellon, Cody serves as a Health Promotion specialist with University Health Services, leveraging their psychology expertise to promote belonging and respect. Their role also focuses on providing compassionate, gender-affirming care, creating a more inclusive environment for all members of the CMU community.

Outside of CMU, Cody works as a music manager, empowering independent artists to flourish in their creative endeavors.

Today, Elements Counseling & Wellness Spa had the privilege of hosting a restorative yoga and sound bath session at Carnegie Mellon University in honor of Trans Day of Remembrance. 🌿✨

This day holds deep meaning as we reflect on and honor the lives of transgender individuals lost to violence, while reaffirming our commitment to creating spaces of healing, safety, and inclusion for the trans community.

Transgender Day of Remembrance honors those who have been lost to the violence of anti-trans hate, discrimination, and structural inequities. Their deaths serve as a reminder of the continued violence towards transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary people. Today we remember those who were taken far too soon and look to raise awareness of the devastating impact of transphobia. As we take time to grieve, we continue to celebrate the vibrance and strength of the transgender community and advocate for a world where all lives are celebrated, cherished, and protected.

We had such a rejuvenating time with students for Out & About, our LGBTQIA+ overnight retreat!
