Thank you so much to everyone who joined us for @raine_roberts artist talk, and the closing reception for “Stages of Compromise” this past Sunday! The exhibition will be on view through the rest of this week! Prints and artworks will continue to be available for sale through inquiry on our website — link in bio :-)

This was a very special exhibition that kicked off our calendar of shows for the year, and we are very grateful to all those who have supported it!

Happy International Mermaid Day! @billyslightinc @ @cmxxabe @gdyssy
🧜🏾‍♀️🧜🏽‍♀️🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏿‍♀️🧜🏼‍♀️
“… the origin story of mermaids is one of diverse folklore and spirituality, that spans across the world in many different iterations, with some being of African descent.” For this year’s IMD, I’m honoring Yemaya! Yemaya rules over her domain with grace, beauty, and maternal wisdom.

“It is said that Yemaya’s spirit transcends all, but it’s easier for us to understand divine forces when we attribute human qualities to them; from the Greeks to the Christians to the Hindus, virtually every world religion has done this for all iterations of modern "mermaids".

Yemaya is also often depicted as a mermaid. But symbols and iconography have a way of grounding the spiritual into something more tangible so that we can better understand it. And Yemaya exists outside narrow boxes of classification, outside of iconography. She takes all forms, yet we strive to put a face to her. It’s not her race, clothes, or even geographical limitations that define her, but rather her powerful presence.”

A prayer for Yemaya:
Yemaya, Mistress of the Moon, Shine Your light onto me, And fill me with your magic. Heal me with Your Regenerative Powers.

Twentieth Annual Solstice in Times Square

Today is also eve of the ninth anniversary of Mama Shirley’s recommendation for Hospice. That year I dedicated my class to her.

Listening to a colleague share about her new death & dying non-profit was surreal.

Listening to my body when the dehydration kicked in was necessary.

So what does one do in this space?

You breathe
You smile
You hydrate
You self- Reiki
You receive Reiki from @cmxxabe
You take it to the mat
You take it to the mat in the rain
You take it to the mat in the rain in Times Square
You allow the cleansing rain to work it’s magic and then you remember you’re on a Yoga mat in the middle of Times Square in the rain
You use said mat as a poncho 🙃

Thank you @chelsealovesyoga for a phenomenal class!

Happy Solstice!
Happy International Day of Yoga!
