We want to give the greatest thanks and well wishes to our strength coach Cedric as he has recently accepted a new position at a different university. Cedric has worked with our program for the past two years and has been a crucial part in our success during his time at Illinois State. Thank you for all you’ve done for us Cedric! You will be missed!

CULTURE
•
Creating and having a culture is key. But what is a culture/what constitutes one?
•
✅ HIGH PERFORMING GROUP.
Encourage autonomy and ownership. Have a shared vision. Create psychological safety. Have understanding from others and of others.
✅ TRUST.
Trust must be authentic and consistent. Loyalty must be present and each individual should be emotionally available to one another.
✅ INCLUSION.
Inclusive environments are key. Show interest in one another, ask questions, promote expression of character, create a common ground and as a coach have frequent check-ins.
✅ CONSISTENCY.
Values and beliefs must be consistent within a culture once established. For example, if a star player leaves a team, culture can’t change, a team must be relentless in what they do, keep the train going, finish the job.
✅ WELL-BEING.
Everyone’s well-being within a team must be accounted for: physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being.
✅ ENVIRONMENT.
The environment will dictate chemical reactions within each persons brain, which will in turn dictate behaviour. Thus, is the environment welcoming? Is it an open environment to contribute to?
•
There is a need as humans to belong. Having a culture that allows this and buying in to one is key 🔑. These are just a few on many parts of a culture.
•
UBUNTU - I am great because you are. Greatness breeds greatness.

University of Iowa Summer Internship done ✅ ✅
.
To say this was a life changing experience is an understatement. The culture, the energy, the athletes, the coaches and the systems were all world class.
.
The internship definitely pushed me to my limits and tested my capabilities, however, this has allowed me to grow and develop more than I could’ve asked for!
.
So grateful for the impeccable experiences, the amazing people and the outstanding knowledge from all the strength and football staff. I’ll be missing this place!

Practice makes perfect🙂 it was an interesting path we had to this point but it was fun practicing this fall with the boys. Although this spring isn’t how I pictured my final season, there’s no other group I’d rather take the field with. Big things to come. Also big S/O to some of my biggest supporters for coming out, thanks Mom and Grams ❤️
