US shipbuilding careers are booming amid @usnavy modernization & workforce shortages: ~50,000+ unfilled skilled jobs (welders, pipefitters, engineers) in 2024-2025. Avg salary $72K-$83K, with high demand for trades (no degree needed via apprenticeships)

Thanks to the team @phillyseaport for introducing the industry/career path to some of our @kbfmentorship young men.

Appreciate Mentors @hackedat100fllwrs, @coach__tone @hardestakt11folo leading the way.

Swipe right for scenes from the @kbfmentorship youth mixer. Appreciate all mentors who came out 💪

The group activity was a "word swap" competition where (after some joint education) mentors had to use youth words (thurl, jawn, kiab, tuff etc..) and youth had to use adult phrases (circle back on that, put a pin in it, please and thank you, etc...) in a skit. Thanks to @yochubbs for serving as a special guest judge for the competition.

The intent was to help mentors and mentees understand each other better. We could sometimes be speaking two different languages without knowing it !

Learn a Skill, Give a Gift: check out our youth learning how to wrap a book with brown paper and string (no tape!)
Alongside a large group of mentors, youth selected a donated book from @booksmilesnj, wrapped it and gifted it to someone in their lives. Good job by you !
