Saltworks Gets Subtle and Stylish on a 1955 Chevy Bel Air Custom Rod.

The classic 1955 Chevy has been sliced, diced, chopped, channeled, raised and lowered over the past seven decades. You name the move and someone’s done it to a ’55. The work on Rick Start’s Bel Air hardtop, though, would challenge any ’55 enthusiast to discover all the manipulations performed by the crew at Saltworks in Sarasota, Florida.

Don’t buy your harness before you answer this one question. Is your truck staying original, or is it getting a modern drivetrain? This Coyote swapped ’70 F100 is exactly the truck ours was built for. Stock and original, ours is more harness than you need. Classic Update or a Coupe 23 will get you wired up and driving for a lot less. all three available on our site. #fatfendergarage #fordf100 #wiringharness #coyoteswap

@heath_till sent me this cool picture of his Camaro by it’s stable we built for him a little while back. You can see it in @wheelhubmag with a great full feature now. A big thank you to all involved in making this car happen. Lots of cool subtle details on this car.

Orange and yellow 54 F100 is leaving with a few new upgrades. Starting with a much needed brake improvement. We removed the floor mounted vacuum brake booster/master combo and relocated it to the firewall. This pedal setup makes it more comfortable to drive much like a newer car. Along the lines of a newer feel, we added a @retrofit.innovations electric brake booster. You want your hot rod to stop? This unit is what you need. Just a three wire hook up. No hoses to make like a hydro boost or pulling vacuum from the engine like a conventional booster. Next we installed a set of @classic_instruments gauges to give the dash a more updated feel. We also re-wired the whole truck using a @coachcontrols fuse panel and wiring kit. When the truck was here, it did need some repairs so we replaced rear four bar bushing, front control arm bushings, new brake pads, and fluids changed. It still needs more loving so it will be back but for now, keep cruising! #cmchotrodsandclassics #classictrucks #hotrodrepair #fordf100 #classiccars

Wrapping up our streak of red vehicles in the shop. This 56 F100 is heading on home. Came in for a few things and ended up needed more work done to make it safe. We did a complete rewire (was a fire waiting to happen), changed out the carburetor so the 460 big block would run better, new motor mounts and also fixed a leaking rear third member. #cmchotrodsandclassics #classictrucks #f100 #classiccarrepair #ford

This #patina 1950 #Chevy #truck came into the shop a couple weeks ago. We are installing a 5.3 LS and fresh 4L60E. We are using @speartechlsx wiring for the engine and transmission, and also wiring the truck with @coachcontrols. Also being installed is @dakota_digital gauges, aluminum @championcoolingsystems radiator, and @briantooleyracing accessory drive.

Daryl brings an unmatched level of passion to doing things the right way — every time.

He doesn’t just want a car assembled; he wants it understood. How it works. Why it works. And how to make it better. That drive to explain, teach, and share knowledge elevates everyone around him and raises the standard across the shop.

With each build, Daryl is focused on progression. Cleaner execution. Better systems. Smarter solutions. Every car leaves stronger than the last because he refuses to settle for “good enough.”

That pursuit of understanding and constant improvement is what turns great builds into exceptional ones.

Daryl is the kind of craftsman every shop needs. Always willing to slow down, explain his process, and make sure the entire team understands not just how something is done—but why it’s done that way.

His approach is detailed, serviceable, and functional at every level. Nothing is overcomplicated for the sake of ego, and nothing is overlooked. That clarity allows everyone around him to do their job better, build with confidence, and deliver results that last.

This is how quality is passed on. This is how standards are raised.
