🏉Getting dropped sucks.

But how a coach handles it matters more than most clubs realise.

The player remembers the conversation.

The rest of the squad watches how it was handled.

And that becomes part of your club culture.

Give them:
→ One clear reason
→ One thing to work on
→ A path back
→ The same coaching next week

Selection picks the team.
How you handle non-selection builds the club.

Send this to a coach who gets this right.

A summer of fun! ✨

Here are some of our favorite highlights from our first summer of Try Girls Rugby Camps! 🏉

We introduced more than 25 girls to the game of rugby and we can't wait to see them all this fall and spring as we look to form our U8, U10, U12, and U14 girls teams 😁

Thank you to all the families and the @gonzagawomensrugby players who made our camps possible 🩷

All I wanted when I was playing was a chance to play for a national championship. But I never got the chance, though I came painfully close.

But watching my best friend coach his team at nationals reminded me why I love this game.

Rugby, and sports as a whole, are a great opportunity to teach us about life. We may stumble and fall, but we get back up. We may be knocked back but we get back up. We may succeed and celebrate but we don’t rest on our laurels.

Our jobs as coaches isn’t about producing the next superstar or national team member. It’s to be an educator. To teach and educate. To nurture and support. Our players won’t respond well to us just yelling at them or getting mad for making a mistake. We all make mistakes. Our job is to empower them to bounce back when it happens. We lift them up. We encourage them to have fun.

Nothing better to run around and toss the ball with our friends. Wins and losses may go, but that feeling of being with a team, a family, will never go.

Can’t wait to see what you do next year brother ❤️
