Never, in my 30 years, would I have imagined moving to JOHANNESBURG. I'm as CAPE TOWNIAN as they come. But life's weird, man... It's full of those 'WTF IS LIFE??' moments we all experience.

So, as I type this at Cape Town International, in my classic, unnecessarily OTT, overly Sentimental-Laurie-'Glory'... A SHOUT-OUT post for Cape Town - forever my home - AND for my friends, all jewels and legends I share the most special history with.

I don't know how TF I'm going to cope not living in the same city as ya'all! Good thing we're just a 2-hour flight away 😂 (TODES, REMEMBER - you're NOT immigrating... chill tf out 🙃)

Here be a bunch of random happy moments I've experienced over recent years...ft. all my favourite people!

OK, time now to `cross the border' from CT's BEAUTIFUL sea & mountains ... to fast pace, hustle, and altitude.

Youth Day Gugs 10km race saw @coachdion deliver a stellar 37 minutes. Amazing!! Hooray and congratulations 🍾🍾

In his words: "I decided to run the Guguletu 10km race today, my first 10km in years...
It's been so long, that I lined up in a temp number for the first time in over a 1000 races!!!

It was a perfect morning to put the body on the line and push it to the limits, to see what one is ready capable of doing...

Oh dear, I'm not the man I was 25 years ago! 10km seemed like a long way, but it was an amazing morning to be on the road fighting back fatigue and chasing a time on the clock (I swear the second hand moves faster than back in the day!)

Yes I'm competitive, so I had the 50s pinned to my top, there was always a chance of a podium in the 50+... (not a chance today as the top guys (50+) all went under 35 and 1 km at that pace went out the window years ago!)

This is a photo dump of my day, ending with a fire (the red wine is here, you just can't see it!!!"

On Saturday I ran 10km UCT 10km replacement race( Run in Pinelands organised by a group of running friends not official race more of a time trial) PB of 34 minutes and 12. A 28 second improvement on my PB then of 34:40. I ran at Nedbank WPA 10km time trial in May.

Great course great and only 5 corners in the whole 10km route 😎😱. One hill not really hill maybe 2. Thank you @markpikker for plotting the route.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself the conditions were perfect no wind and nice and cool. I felt strong until about 7kms then had to go into race management mode aka hold pace and don't push. I had to dig deep for 2kms not by much as I usually do when I am chasing a time.Being paced by @faies23 and Reuben was amazing thank you to you both so much for being so selfless to help us achieve our PB. I wish I was fast enough to one day do the same for both of you. They did a perfect job. They were pacing myself and @adamtodes for a sub 34 minutes which I knew deep down days before I was in shape for a good 34 minutes some seconds. I told myself why not go for it. I kept behind the pacers used Nike breaking 2 method to my advantage. Kept this was a triangle not a diamond shape. I felt relaxed and was moving smoothly so much so I surged ahead of the 2 pacers because I thought they were going too slowly🤣😂😂. They weren't it was just how I felt.

I am now getting close to a 10km PB I can smile about. What delighted me most is I was very fresh afterwards even cleaned my car when
I got home then only ate breakfast 😂🤣. I couldn't believe it. Next day I ran a relaxed 22kms in 1 hour 28 minutes and 45 seconds at 4:02 per km and wind was probably pumping at times. That too me back bit as I just came there to run 22kms.

Great seeing @calvin_hammondd this guy is building up for something big😎🔥👌🏼👍🏼💪🏼👊🏼

Great weekend of run training this is only the beginning. I look forward to my easy run this evening and gym work. I am smiling at my running future.
