Today we visited the 28th annual Guelph Dance Festival @guelphdance to watch our favs TwinMoon @harringtontwins showcase their beautiful work in progress. They have stunning choreography on top of a one of kind connection, astute point of view, creative aesthetic sense and athletic ability. 💜 this work is still being developed, and how magical it is to see the infant stages in community. Excited to have seen some familiar faces who will be watching this work piece together over time too. So proud of TwinMoon for landing the artist in residence spot, filling all their audience seats, creating something so meaningful and having an artist talk back - one of the hardest things to do is talk about your work let alone right after you’ve done an amazing physical performance 🦋🦋 Excited , inspired, and in awe!

STRUTS GALLERY APPRECIATION POST AND BUILDING FUNDRAISER! If you’ve been to Sappyfest and love the multidisciplinary art and surprising creativity you’ve encountered, a big part of that is due to the close partnership we maintain with Struts Gallery. The’ve hosted performances, workshops, exhibitions, artist projects, and made opportunities for visitors and dreams and ideas. Struts is a beacon of artist-run culture, a dynamic model of mutual support, creativity, and opportunity production. It is a hub, a meeting place, a manifestation of the belief that artists need a place, a space, and resources to make work, and that communities need a place to encounter this art. It is the result of a couple generations of effort from a community of artists, here in Sackville, and dispersed across the region and the country. Its impact is massive! In 2018 Struts Gallery achieved the significant organizational milestone of purchasing their building at 7 Lorne Street. They’ve been working ever since in fundraising, grant writing, and planning much needed renovations to the historic 1912 building. It’s beautiful, but it needs work! We are asking the Sappy community to please consider supporting their Building Fund: the goal is to raise $75,000 by April 30, 2026. Your contributions will allow Struts to match Provincial funding to conduct essential work on the roof, (iconic) balcony, and masonry. Struts Gallery is a registered charity, and all donations receive a charitable tax receipt issued through Canada Helps. There’s an easy link in our bio! We are reflecting on deep feelings of joy, inspiration, hope and gratitude after the 27th annual Guelph Dance Festival this past weekend. We gathered to celebrate dance in many ways - by witnessing it, doing it and talking about it. We engaged with work at different stages of development, and were exposed to the creative process through works in progress, workshops and talk-backs. We applauded artists in a range of stages - from emerging and brisk to established and iconic. And we were lucky to experience a variety of forms, and different expressions of identity and experiences through movement. Many wonderful people and places make this event possible: Artists - thank you for sharing your work in Guelph. Your talent, artistry and intelligence has moved us. Volunteers - your time is a gift. Thank you for making our audiences feel welcomed, and supporting our staff and artists. Sponsors and donors - your generosity ensures this event can happen year to year. Thank you for believing in what we do. IICSI - for providing your stunning space and brilliant team to support a dance residency for local artist, Katie Ewald. Staff - thank you for continually dedicating your time, expertise and hearts to this event. Attendees - whether you've been to 27 festivals or one, your presence is vital and cherished. Thank you for showing up with curiosity, energy and receptiveness. The trees, wind, grass, ground & sky - thank you for having us and dancing with us. Save the date for the 28th annual Guelph Dance Festival: June 5-7, 2026! P.S. we have one more favour to ask of you! Please fill out the 2025 Audience Survey! Your valuable feedback helps us to plan future events. Link in bio! Photos by Dan Charlebois, Bloom Media
