✨INDEPENDENT HANDS✨ isn’t only a hitting term - it’s an essential piece of efficient transfers behind the plate that put you in the best position to use your body through the throw

Transferring by pulling the ball back creates a BIG MOVEMENT which takes more time & pulls you into a rotational throw that needs to un-rotate to come through

Watch the best of the best and see how simple and independent their hands are so allow their hands to be efficient enough to keep up with their quick feet - set yourself up for success & that begins with your transfer having independent hands that redirect the ball

👐🏽 We want to work on a line on our transfer so we can load into the scap muscles up top working from center
🦶🏼 with quick feet, stay in our legs to set ourselves up to
🦵🏼rotate our hips into it explosively so we can drive into and through the throw
💪🏼 pulling our glove hard to create whip with the ball

🔁❌ the upper body over rotating doesn’t allow for this to happen and slows us down

like in hitting, the best throws have elements that are rotational and elements that are linear to optimize your body and be your most efficient - your hands are one that work on a line when done best ✅

DM “LINE” to learn about training with on being your most efficient behind the plate!

Minimal space? Not even a wall for wall ball? Here’s some transfer work that can still be effective 👇🏽👇🏽

“Tap taps” focusing center of body, redirecting the ball, glove thumb up

Isolating upper body focusing glove thumb up, transfer in front of the eye balls at center, bow & arrow pull into scap muscle

Add in the feet & feel the timing connection, your throwing sequence

Quick dry reps - one of the most powerful and underutilized tools to truly gain awareness and become more efficient

Bounce a ball in front of you and stay behind it, maintaining the pieces of the transfer & timing into the throw

These things can be done with a tennis ball or bouncy ball, a ball of socks into the couch, a softball into a net, you name it. Get it done! Wall ball isn’t the only effective tool for home training 🥎❤️‍🔥

You wanna do it fast?? Do it realllyyy good slowed down first.

Great place to use a @vallesportinggoods training glove Eagle T25 to work with a glove but be challenged with the size of the pocket - especially if you do bounced work, tosses, wall ball. Their gloves are incredible tools to help push you to make adjustments and become more efficient & consistent. Always great to work transfers with their Eagle Pancake too! 10% through the link in my bio!

RECEIVING… A popular part of the game right now but there’s details you need to hone in on beyond the “trends”

Receiving is an area of your game you will still have a toolbox for, with variables to take into account - not just your preferred style

Don’t box yourself in as a catcher and receiver because you’re only up for receiving the way you prefer. Learn your pitchers pitches, adjust for umpires tendencies, adjust for your pitchers needs that day, master the little details of it, set your self up to adjust

This video shows some of the details you need to take seriously to truly become a high level receiver but we can dive in so deep - don’t get caught being someone who stays on the surface for this skill

Speed up your pop time without getting complicated with these 3 check points 👇🏽

🥎1️⃣ FRONT KNEE & GLOVE ARM NEED TO BE IN SYNC
As the ball comes in that front knee starts to load back with your glove as it moves back with the ball to begin the transfer

🥎2️⃣ HEAD STAYS OVER BUTT as you drive toward your target. Once you’ve worked back you slingshot forward maintaining your strong posture to allow both accuracy and efficiency

🥎3️⃣ FOLLOW THRU HARD STRAIGHT TO YOUR TARGET
Where you follow thru towards tells you a lot about your throw and can have an effect on your throw. If you’re following thru straight to your target there’s a good chance you A.) Stayed through & behind the ball B.) Created good spin = good velocity C.) Created a healthy lane for your transfer & throw (when your body gets in the way from bad body movement it is difficult to get thru your throw)

Knee throws are a great tool for catchers to have - make sure you’re actually learning how to do it & what parts help you do it efficiently 🔥
