Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, mentors, father figures, coaches, teachers who have given fatherly love to a generation.

This has been such a blessed, beautiful Father’s Day! I’ve been saturated with so much love, appreciation, honor, gratitude (and gifts!) from The Dove Nest and beyond. Attributing all this love and light, in part, to the convergence of Juneteenth, the Summer Solstice and Father’s Day this weekend!

I am grateful that I have come of age along my fatherhood journey surrounded by Black men who have demonstrated and modeled healthy masculinity, vulnerability, how to ask for help, how to say I am sorry, how to balance affirmation and accountabilty as a dad, how to cry in the presence of men, and how to unabashedly say “I love you” to another man along their own fatherhood journeys.

Thank you Desere, Noa, Maya, Cameron and Caleb for the gift of fatherhood. Thank you for your love. For the laughs. For the tears. For the forgiveness. For the patience. For the prayers. For the eternal memories and for just letting me be “Shawn Daddy D.” Surely, I must have been a saint in a previous life to experience all this Dove Nest love in this one!

I believe my fatherhood story is my strength; my fatherhood wisdom is my wealth. Thank you for inviting me to share my fatherhood stories and wisdom with your beloved community of dads and cross-sector leaders at the annual Affirming Fatherhood Conference this Thursday. If you are in the NYC area please scan the QR Code to register and join us for some fatherhood mission fuel, food and fun.

Who knew, way back in the day, when I stood stoned the corner, that God would transform me into the cornerstone of my family - The Dove Nest. Happy Father’s Day! ❤️🙏🏾🕊

So excited to be in conversation tomorrow with @yolandacoentro President & CEO of @institute_np as part of their Leadership Learning Series!

I’ve been truly blessed to work with a bunch of amazing leaders and teams over my career journey at @harlemchildrenszone, @mentornmp , @opensocietyfoundations, @citiesunited and @new_profit, which has provided me with a wealth of leadership lessons - many of the lessons coming from fruitful failures.

So much mission fuel gleaned along the way like:

🔥 If you can reframe your seeming failures, you can reframe your future.

🔥 Somebody you don’t even know is rising up in their leadership calling ONLY because they are watching you rise up in yours.

🔥 The demands of leadership require have these three things close proximity: a Mentor; an Executive Coach and a Therapist - you have to work harder on yourself than you do on your job!

🔥 Navigating the 7Cs of Deep-End Leadership: Calling, Courage, Completion, Credibillity, Collaboration, Change, Coaching.

🔥There is no cavalry coming to save the day in our communities. We are the iconic leaders we have been waiting for; curators of the change we’re seeking to see.

And more!

Join us tomorrow, 12:00pmEST. Registration link in @institute_np bio.

SciLinguiFide. Episode 3. “Destroying Unbelief” It’s time to completely excavate and eradicate unbelief and claim dominion over our bodies. And you don’t have to go to a temple, mosque or a church to do it. Fast and Meditate often. Repeat often. Our brains, our faith and our language will thank us. #scilinguifide
