A reflection of my career…

When I look back on everything I’ve accomplished, the crazy part is I never saw most of it coming. Not because I didn’t believe in myself, but because life kept trying to convince me I wasn’t supposed to make it.

Too little.
Not big enough.
Not strong enough.
Not the one they were picking first.

But somehow, someway… I made it.

I didn’t have a trainer. I didn’t have everything handed to me. I got it out the mud. I came from the trenches. I was the kid who needed a coach to pick him up for practice. The kid who had to find a ride. The kid who didn’t have all the support in the world — but God gave me everything I was lacking.

And every time I believed, God showed up and showed out.

There were so many long nights where I had to fight battles nobody saw. Mentally, I had to keep going when quitting would’ve made sense. I remember looking left and right, watching other guys get scholarships, get attention, get opportunities — and during my high school career, that was depressing. It hurt. But I kept going.

I was the little engine that could.

My hunger saved me.
My passion carried me.
My love for the game pushed me.
My will to never quit became my advantage.

This is redemption. This is proof. This is what happens when you keep writing, even when people try to close your book early.

Moral of the story:

YOU WRITE THE BOOK.
YOU ARE THE AUTHOR OF YOUR OWN STORY.

Listen to my interview w/ Coach Dave Davis!

He shares his journey from growing up in New Hampshire to amassing a 486-313 record as college basketball coach.

Davis moved to North Carolina in high school and went on to play college basketball at Warren Wilson College - where he would eventually be enshrined into their hall of fame. After graduating from Warren Wilson he got his start coaching at South Stanly High School.

Coach Bobby Lutz brought Dave Davis on staff at Pfeiffer as a Volunteer Assistant prior to Dave accepting the position of Head Coach at Warren Wilson College.

Pfeiffer hired Coach Davis to lead their men’s basketball program in in 1996 and during his 14 years at the helm, the Falcons compiled a 284-124 including six conference titles, three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances - including advancing to the Sweet 16 along with an Elite 8 appearance in 2004.

Coach Davis accepted the job at Newberry College and they led the South Atlantic Conference in scoring seven times resulting in winning over 55% of his games during his nine seasons as Head Coach.
After 486 victories Coach Davis accepted the Associate Head Coach position under Pat Kelsey at Winthrop, where he was instrumental in their back-to-back Big South Conference Tournament Championships.

Coach Kelsey brought Davis to College of Charleston where they improved the Cougars’ win total by eight games. After the 2020-2021 season Coach Davis accepted the Associate Head Coach position at VMI and remained there until retiring in January of 2024.

Coach Bialkoski is the Director of Basketball Operations at the George Mason.

He started his coaching journey as a Student Manager at Georgia Southern before being promoted to Head Student Manager under Jeff Price. From there he moved onto UNC Charlotte where he started off as a Graduate Manager under Bobby Lutz and remained on staff as the Program Assistant then DOBO under Coach Alan Major.

Coach Bialkoski spent six seasons in College Park working under Mark Turgeon. He’s worn a number of hats in the college basketball coaching profession and has worked for - and with great basketball minds. Coach Bialkoski is a coach who truly wants to help fellow coaches and “grow the game”.

Coach Ethan Kahn shares his journey from growing up in Arizona to becoming a Student Assistant at the NCAA DI level, and eventually becoming an Assistant Coach at Bemidji State University (NCAA DII).

Kahn served as a Student Assistant at Northern Arizona from 2017 until 2021 and moved across the country to become a Graduate Assistant in North Carolina at Catawba College. He served as the Director of Basketball Operations and Video Coordinator in addition to being in graduate school.
Coach Kahn helped with all aspects of the program at Catawba and during the 2022-23 season he served as the Head Developmental Coach for the Red team.

In 2023 he was named an Assistant Coach at Bemidji State University in Minnesota.

Listen to my interview w/ Coach Steven Asher!

He shares his journey from growing up in Maryland and playing Club Basketball at JMU, to becoming a NCAA DI women's basketball coach at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.

After graduating from James Madison University he accepted a Graduate Assistant position at the University of Maryland under Coach Mark Turgeon. While at Maryland he was a part of a program that advanced to the Semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament and the Round of 32 in the NCAA Tournament.

Coach Asher accepted an Assistant Coach position at Lycoming College (NCAA DIII) and helped them win their conference tournament and advance to the NCAA DIII Tournament. From Lycoming he moved onto Catawba College where he served as an Assistant Coach for Coach Rob Perron. While on staff at Catawba, they advanced to the NCAA Tournament in both 2019 and 2020 while winning the South Atlantic Conference in 2020.

Following a successful at Catawba, Coach Asher joined the women's coaching staff at Rice University and aided them to a Women's National Invitational Tournament Championship. Rice finished with a 23-4 record including a 12-2 Conference USA record.

In 2021 Coach Asher joined the coaching staff at Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne.
