Chris Cheng’s coaching rise runs through Ontario, Nipissing, Windsor and Team Canada. He won back-to-back national titles as head coach of Ontario’s U17 boys in 2011 and 2012, and was named Ontario’s Men’s Elite Coach of the Year in 2011. In 2013, he joined Canada Basketball and was hired as the first head coach in Nipissing’s history. The Lakers went 0-19 in their first OUA season in 2014-15, but his culture-first, five-year plan paid off in 2017 with a playoff berth and a quarter-final appearance.

He left for Windsor in 2019 and made the playoffs in five of his first six seasons there. With Team Canada, he was a 2022 U17 World Cup assistant, then took over as head coach and won silver at the 2023 U16 AmeriCup. He has balanced time between Windsor and Team Canada for years now, and hopes those opportunities still present themselves.

A long journey to get to this point, Coach Cheng is full of so many great insights and views, you have to stick with the episode to see what “CRAP” is all about, and so much more.

Another Canadian coach making waves, make sure you tap in!

THE FOUNDATION WAS BUILT.
THEN CAME THE IMPACT. 🖤💛

2019 → ♾️ (Part 2 of Coach K's Journey & Impact...)

From 2019 to today, the vision continued to grow.

Under Coach Kulbir's leadership, Malton Sting has continued to create opportunities for hundreds of athletes, develop coaches, expand programming and build a community that reaches far beyond the basketball court.

From U6 to U19, grassroots development to competitive basketball, girls basketball to community initiatives, clinics and mentorship — the goal has remained the same:

Develop people, not just players.

Kulbir has continued to give back to the game, learning alongside and working with coaches and athletes connected to the NBA, WNBA, collegiate and professional basketball communities, while bringing those experiences back home to Malton.

Because the impact isn't measured only in wins.

It's the athlete who finds confidence.
The coach who finds support.
The young person who finds a place to belong.
The player who eventually comes back to mentor someone else.

Today, we celebrate the years of service, sacrifice, hustle and heart that led to this moment.

Congratulations, Coach Kulbir Sidhu.🇨🇦🏀

The award recognizes the journey.

But the journey isn't over.

The work continues.
The impact continues.
The legacy continues.

2019 → ♾️

One Hive. One Family. One legacy is still being built. 🐝

CLIENT LOVE
(The Real Toronto Pro Basketball League)

Thank YOU Toronto for coming out tonight to the launch of our city's first and long overdue professional basketball league. Our league has six franchises (Scarborough, Brampton, Downtown, Mississauga, Vaughan, Durham) and tonight some of Toronto's finest basketball players, including NBA players Dillon Brooks (Phoenix Suns), Leonard Miller (Chicago Bulls) and all kinds of NCAA college players, overseas pro's, and a high school megastar came out to rep their boroughs. Mississauga beat Scarborough quite handily, in Scarborough, so let the debates begin as to what region is Toronto's finest on the hardwood! Here's my mini photo diary of tonight's epic event & league launch - stay tuned to my feed for more exciting developments!

1) Leonard Miller (Chicago Bulls) is 6"11 with a 7"2 wingspan - remember him before that big growth spurt when he won a Jr. championship at Thornlea Prep?

2) Toronto Star - our league is all about Toronto, so we had to chat it up with Toronto's largest daily newspaper naturally

3) Nick Lewis - league's founder and a true visionary.

4) Dillon "The Villain" Brooks (Phoenix Suns) - there's a reason he averaged 20.2 ppg in the NBA last season. The guy is what we call an absolute dog, and a terrific two-way player.

5) CBC "Here & Now" - We did some radio interviews as our new league will capture the imagination of basketball fans, so why not let this show's large listenership know what we're cooking up.

6) Team Scarborough - All kinds of basketball all-stars from that borough suited up to rep their region. I was keeping an eye on some of the young guns who play NCAA college basketball in the U.S (Baraka Okijie, Christian Nitu, Taj Au-Duke)

7) League President Devoe Joseph with some relatives (Kev!) & supporters. Devoe is the son of OG basketball legend David Joseph and the brother of NBA champion Cory Joseph.

8) Javion Tyndale is arguably the most exciting point guard from our city right now: he just led Canada to its first FIBA U18 gold medal win over the USA and plays for the best high school program in America (Montverde). Buy Stock Now. Big up his mom Marsha!

Childhood memory alert 🚨: Who remembers this Primo Pasta and Sauce commercial 😏

Coach Sharma shares a great insight on why you shouldn’t practice a skill you’re trying to correct—like your shot—when you’re fatigued. 🫩

If you’re building new habits, quality reps matter more than tired reps. Sometimes getting better means knowing when to stop.

“It should solve a problem.”

Ajay Sharma discusses the importance of understanding what you want from a trainer and creating honest, open dialogue around your development.

The best training isn’t about doing more drills—it’s about identifying a need and finding solutions that translate to the court.

Great conversation back in April with Canadian legend, Ajay Sharma, on the impact of shooting 3’s too early.

In a game obsessed with range, Ajay shares why skill development, footwork, balance, and shot discipline still matter—and why chasing the highlight before building the habit can slow long-term growth.
