This group of grade 8 boys came together for the CYBL All-Star Weekend with little to no experience playing alongside each other… but you wouldn’t have known it watching them compete.

They played selfless, locked-in, and with heart — trusting one another, communicating, and showing what happens when talent meets teamwork.

“Oh my lanta,” “have mercy,” what a night! 🤩 One of the few times I have ever felt starstruck as I was able to meet and listen to my childhood role model. @candacecbure thank you for the unapologetic way you show how to live for God out loud! Your testimony is so powerful. The analogy of the sheep will be one I will cling to as a reminder of how easily we can deceive ourselves into believing our own goodness by the world’s standards. The message you brought tonight was a breath of fresh air amidst so much hostility in our world. The words ‘gratitude’ and ‘joy’ have become a constant reminder these past couple of months. I think we should all make the leap into the James 1 club. In support of your leap of faith into the club, we cannot wait for those Christmas movies! Katelyn has attended ACA since kindergarten, and this fall, she plans to attend Harding University majoring in Interior Design. At ACA, Katelyn has been a member of the Varsity Basketball, Varsity Soccer, and Varsity Golf teams as well as National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Key Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Chorus, Eagle Ambassadors, and Athletic Ambassadors. When asked about her classes, she said DE US History with Coach Summers was her favorite. “He is a really good and funny teacher, and I had a blast in that class.” She credits Coach Guice’s AP Biology class as the most challenging. Katelyn’s favorite ACA memory is going to Disney World with the basketball team during her sophomore and senior years. To the underclassmen she says, “Don’t take anything for granted and work hard; it will pay off.” Katelyn’s favorite Bible verse is John 16:22, “So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you.”

I'm super excited to announce that I’ll be continuing my cross country career at Faulkner University! First and foremost, I want to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ—I wouldn’t be where I am without Him. I’m incredibly grateful for the time I’ve spent at Wallace and for the friends, mentors, and guidance I’ve received along the way.

This journey, from high school until now, has been shaped by so many people, and I truly appreciate everyone who has been a part of it. I can’t wait to see what these next two years have in store! Go Eagles!! 🦅🦅
