Unpopular opinion: The internet always harps on anti-rotation core exercises… and we forgot how to train actual rotation. 📉

Look at your feed right now. It’s a never-ending flood of planks, deadbugs, and Pallof presses.

Don’t get me wrong. Learning how to brace and resist movement is a massive piece of the puzzle. But it’s only half the equation.

If you play a sport, lift weights, or just want to move like an athlete in real life, your core has to do more than just stand still. It needs to transfer force, create torque, and move through a twist with absolute power.

That’s where the Rotational Chop comes in. Stop only training your core to lock things down. Build a core that can actually create power, not just stop it.

If you want to move like an athlete, you have to train like one. Rotation is a non-negotiable metric for high performance

Most people think plyos and want to go in full force

I can tell you as a strength coach and a physical therapist, that’s not how you do it

Plyos have to be introduced well so that your body has a chance to adapt to what’s being done

The squat and lunge pattern are very common ways we can introduce plyos, so here’s one way I would progress each pattern

Simple, yet effective

Every dribble needs a purpose.

For beginners, it's not just about learning how to go through their legs. It's about understanding what that move should accomplish.

Here we're combining a between-the-legs dribble with a lateral lunge step to create an angle on the defender. That puts his body in position to seal off the defender as he takes his next step forward.

We're also building good habits along the way. Getting low, keeping his eyes up, and staying balanced with his shoulders over his hips.

That position gives him the ability to absorb contact, maintain control, and be more powerful attacking the paint.

Don't just learn the move. Learn the purpose behind it.

Fundamentals First. Teaching young players the proper shooting techniques at an early age will set them up for future success. Correct bad form early. @labcityking is 5 years old and he gets frustrated that I’m always telling him to fix this and fix that. It’s way easier to fix it at 5 than 15. Respect the reps. #lab #basketball #skills
