Introducing artist Coady Fitzroy!
@coadyfitzroy
👣

My work explores bog bodies as both archeological artefacts and once-living individuals, with a focus on the ethics of their display. I’m interested in the many tensions between curiosity, education and respect for the dead and how museums might choose to frame and display human remains.
Drawing and documenting medical illustration and archival practices helps me to understand more about the body and how it acts as a site of memory where peoples’ histories are preserved but also shaped and distorted over time.

My work also reflects on the relationships between life and death. I bring my own physical body into my work as a way of grounding these ideas to lived experience, using it as a point of connection between the living and the dead.

Ragdoll
Ragdoll is a feminist art collective. The group is composed of five artists, Coady Fitzroy, Rosa Kelly, Holly Walsh, Ciara Henry and Aimee Eiffe. Our mission in our collective is to explore topics surrounding patriarchy, womanhood, girlhood and motherhood in contemporary Ireland.

Our visual manifesto is currently in the Margaret Clarke Gallery. It is a mixed media collage about our experiences as women, who we are told to be and who we are at heart.
