🚨 A MESSAGE TO THE DJ COMMUNITY — STAND FOR RESPECT 🚨

As DJs, we have a responsibility that goes beyond playing music. We help create the atmosphere, culture, and energy at the events we are hired to represent.

There have been reports surrounding an alleged physical altercation involving artist Sky Whatley and fellow female DJ DJ Jada Byrd’s mother at a show. If someone attending or working an event is physically disrespected or assaulted without justification, that should never be normalized or overlooked.

NO FAN. NO DJ. NO MOTHER. NO WOMAN. NO PERSON should have to experience that at a music event.

This isn’t about drama.
This isn’t about taking sides.
This isn’t about destroying anyone’s career.

It’s about accountability, professionalism, and creating safer environments for everyone in our music community.

As DJs, promoters, radio personalities, and music professionals, we have the right to decide what music we put in our sets and what artists we choose to support.

Until the circumstances surrounding this situation are properly addressed, I personally believe DJs should seriously consider not supporting or promoting the music involved as a peaceful form of accountability.

🎧 NO VIOLENCE.
🎧 NO DISRESPECT.
🎧 NO NORMALIZING ASSAULT AT OUR EVENTS.
🎧 RESPECT THE PEOPLE WHO SUPPORT THE MUSIC.

If you are a DJ, you don’t have to argue with anyone. You don’t have to threaten anyone. You don’t have to create internet drama.

Simply make your choice with your playlists, your platforms, your events, and your influence.

We can disagree about music.
We can disagree about business.
We can disagree about anything.

But putting your hands on somebody should never become part of the culture we accept.

DJ COMMUNITY — LET’S STAND FOR RESPECT. 🎧✊🏾
