This workshop to create your own nature spirits in clay from @harumiabeartist was wonderful. It was really enjoyable and I had a lot of fun making something out of my comfort zone. I love her work - both clay work and paintings as it feels reminiscent of Ghibli Studios connections with animation to nature. To check out her work, go to the @thecenterhollywood to see her work.

Women Pulling at the Threads of Social Discourse: The Epistle

Every piece of fabric holds a story. Some were told, but so many remained silent.

Inspired by the letters written by women during the American Revolution, my textile letter brings together fragments of women’s clothing, weaving untold stories of strength, resilience, motherhood, waiting, sorrow, and hope.

Throughout history, countless women carried stories that were never heard. Their fears, dreams, sacrifices, and quiet acts of courage may have gone unrecognized, yet their lives shaped generations.

Through these fragments, I wanted to give a voice to those invisible narratives, creating the imperfect image of a woman who represents not one, but many. A woman made of memories, emotions, and the threads that connect us all.

Honored to be part of this meaningful exhibition at The CAMP Gallery, celebrating the voices of women, past and present, and the stories that deserve to be remembered. @thecampgallery @threadsofsocialdiscourse @melanieprapopulos

What a beautiful morning. 💛🎨

Today’s 2026 Art of Breastfeeding Brunch & Exhibition brought together art, families, community, conversation, food, little ones running around, and so much warmth.

I was honored to return for a second year to support BreastfeedMIAMI as curator, helping bring together this year’s exhibition and the stories behind the work. We featured 18 artists and 25 exhibition entries, with many artists creating new work specifically for this year’s call.

One of my favorite parts of the day was moderating a short artist conversation and hearing directly from the artists about the lived experiences, ideas, health issues, family connections, and moments of tenderness behind their work. And it was especially good to have so many of our exhibiting artists there with us today.

Congratulations to our People’s Choice Award recipients:

And much love to every participating artist whose work helped tell this year’s story. There were so many beautiful, thoughtful and very different interpretations of breastfeeding, support, family and community.

Thank you to BreastfeedMIAMI for inviting me back, and to everyone who came out, shared space, asked questions, met the artists, voted, ate, laughed and spent part of their Saturday with us.

Honored to be invited back as curator for BreastfeedMIAMI’s 2026 Art of Breastfeeding Brunch & Exhibition.

This is the kind of work I love being part of: community-centered, mission-driven, creative work that uses art to open conversations, build connection, and support people in real ways.

A few artists who were recently part of What We Carry are also included in this exhibition, which makes it especially meaningful to see those creative relationships continue across different projects and spaces.

BreastfeedMIAMI’s work centers breastfeeding education, support, advocacy, and resources for families and communities, and this project is close to my heart personally too. I’m also a mom who breastfed my child for 18 months exclusively, so there’s a real personal connection for me beyond the curatorial work.

Tomorrow’s brunch and exhibition is free and open to families, with art, resources, speakers, activities, and community connection.

Thank you @senaura_1111 for recording this clip on my explanation of "History in Plain Sight - The Weight We Carry to Rebuild", @whatsyourelephant exhibition, What We Carry. This is a powerful piece that took 2 years to make. 22x13x1.5, hand embroidery, paper, acrylics, wood shingles, wood and burned fabric. It's not a question of can we rebuild, the question really is - can people rebuild in peace without interference?

What a way to close What We Carry.

Our final night brought people back into the gallery for one more evening of art, reflection, movement, connection, and community.

At 8 PM, exhibiting artist Damaris Ferrer presented The Crossings, a movement activation that unfolded throughout all three levels of the exhibition. The work invited us to move differently through the gallery, alongside the artwork and one another, and to consider what we carry, what we release, and what we continue carrying forward.

Watching the movement interact with the artwork, the architecture, and the people in the space was deeply moving. There were moments of tenderness, tension, vulnerability, joy, reflection, and connection.

Thank you, Damaris, for bringing The Crossings into What We Carry, and thank you to everyone who joined us for the closing and throughout these past few weeks.

We were also glad to welcome our Presenting Community Partner, AIDS Healthcare Foundation, in person to share information about the services and resources they provide.

From opening night, to drumming, collage-making, artist conversations, reflection, and this final movement through the gallery, What We Carry became so much more than an exhibition on the walls. It became a place for people to gather, talk, feel, create, question, and connect.

One attendee reflected:

“What We Carry certainly identifies our common ground.”

Thank you to our 35 exhibiting artists, every community member who walked through the doors, our program collaborators, supporters, volunteers, and 1310 Gallery for helping us carry this together.

The physical exhibition has closed, but the conversation is not over. A virtual artist talk is still to come.

Tomorrow night, we gather one final time inside What We Carry.

Over the past few weeks, this exhibition has held 35 artists, many different lived experiences, and conversations around what we inherit, what sustains us, what we survive, what we release, and what we are learning to carry differently.

We’ve gathered through art, conversation, drumming, collage-making, reflection, laughter, vulnerability, and community.

Tomorrow, we close this chapter together.
