Everything we ate & drank in Chicago 🌭🍕☕️🍸

Chicago did NOT disappoint when it came to food, but if I had to pick my favourites… those Doma hash browns and the tavern-style pizza are still living rent-free in my head. 🤤

Here’s everywhere we tried during our trip:
🥔 Doma — Breakfast sandwiches + some of the BEST hash browns I’ve ever had. Crispy outside, soft and fluffy inside. I would go back just for these.
🍹 Coco Bar — A cute pink stop along the Chicago Riverwalk where you can build your own margarita. Definitely more of a vibes stop for me!
🍓 Foxtrot — The Strawberry Matcha was a 10/10 and Chris loved the Pumpkin Pie Latte. If you’re a strawberry matcha person, ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST.
🍸 Starbucks Reserve Roastery Chicago — The largest Starbucks in the world! We tried the espresso martinis and the Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini was easily my favourite.
🌭 Portillo’s — Our first Chicago-style hot dog and apparently I’ve been eating hot dogs wrong my entire life?! 😂 So many toppings and SO good.
🍕 Chicago tavern-style pizza — Everyone talks about deep dish, but don’t sleep on Chicago’s thin and crispy tavern-style pizza. We got ours with pickled peppers + pancetta and it was an EASY 10/10.

📌 SAVE this for your next Chicago trip!

Chicago locals: what did we miss?! Tell me where we NEED to eat next time because I’m already making a list. 👇🏼

Anniversary number 2!

Fun day off in the city hitting the shops and dodging the raindrops celebrating our amazing year of change and growth. The food at CoCoBar and The Purple Pig was amazing, and the city offered some gorgeous views, art, and history. We’ve had some big shifts this year, and I’m so thankful for my brilliant, powerful, and beautiful partner. Here’s to another year of music, adventure, and Scrappy!

Lunch on Chicago’s river walk 🌮

This was taken at a small bar/cafe in Chicago called CocoBar, it’s placed right off the river and it was only outdoor seating. It was very cute and had a really nice vibe that didn’t even feel like being in the center of a large city.

In the midsts of all this targeted persecution, arrests and detention, I had the privilege to visit Chicago for the first time to attend @theiwmf’s first ever Safety Ambassadors Summit. It was magical for the depth with which we embraced each other, the kindness and grace we brought to the space, despite the seriousness and complexity of what it takes to keep journalists safe in the U.S. nowadays. And the city gave us all it had to give. Its architecture is stunning! Take a look. Doesn’t this look attractive and amazing?! Gosh.

out-of-state eats: chicago edition! 🫘

featuring mango-chamoy paletas from @cocobar.chicago, canadian bacon egg and cheese and iced cafe de olla from @ahuevousa, smash burger from @saltchicago, cinnamon old fashioned and chocolate glazed donuts from @doritedonuts, chicken fried rice, shrimp fried noodles, and passion fruit green teas from @bellybowl.chicago, and vegan mint chip ice cream from @vanleeuwenicecream to end the trip on a high note! 🤸🏽‍♀️ if there's anything i love more than food, it's trying food from somewhere new.

everything was delicious but my personal standouts were the iced cafe de olla (literally didn't need any milk, it was perfectly sweet and tasted like my childhood), the cinnamon donut (love me some do-rite 🤍) and the passion fruit green tea (worth every dollar 😩)!
