Camino de vida 🍶🌿 This is my beautiful life. Thank you to my teachers Yoxan Manuela and Yoxan Robertina, my mentors, my spiritual community, my family, and all the friends I’ve made along the way since I began this path. Big love to everybody who takes care of me and holds me down while I’m deep in the work. Thank you to everyone I have ever shared space in my entire existence for each moment of my journey has brought me here. Wow, my second samá completed. It was so special, so difficult, yet so rewarding. Grateful for all the memories shared and for the opportunity to learn, listen and sing with this incredible Indigenous community, the Shipibo-Konibo. Thank you to my Shipibo brother Alex @niweart23 for such a vibrant and radiant painting to honor my relationship with my master plant and to reflect my plant medicine journey. He divinely channels the medicine and was such a joy to work with. Alex is extremely caring, communicative and honorable in his work. People often ask me how I found the courage to give myself permission to prioritize what brings me joy and bring it into form. It started inside this circle. I learned to hoopdance in 2010. I was about a year out of the relationship that brought me from VA to NY. I can’t recall the specifics of how I came to the hoop, but once I started there was no going back. The first time I got to see myself dancing in a hoop was the first time I saw myself wholly in my body and beautiful.

There isn’t an ounce of self doubt, judgment, fear when I am in that circle. It reminds me that I am enough in a visceral way. I don’t have words for that feeling but I can tell you that to this day when I see myself hoopdance it brings me to tears in the best way.

I found the courage by following that feeling in my body that told me I was born for this.

I didn’t find the courage all at once.
I found it in a circle of plastic, rhythm, and breath.
I gave myself permission to feel joy before I had a plan.
And that changed everything.

Hello good people of the day and night!

There is so much to be grateful for everyday, all the time. I want to share something I’m grateful for. At the end of August, my Great-Aunt Lois made the passage back to her Creator early August in her home surrounded by family. My Great-Aunt Lois is my mother’s mother’s twin sister. Last weekend, on October 5th, we held her service and honored her life.

As many of you know, I write custom poems for people on my typewriter based on either prompts or conversations I have on the spot with folks. I had the intuitive inclination of surprising my family with poems while we gathered those two days. Some people I hadn’t seen in years and others I had never met before. All in all, I am bursting with joy to have been of service to them in this way. I have written many poems for folks at events and much of my family has never had the opportunity to witness me in this way. I was also asked to read an original poem of mine during the service, which partially spurred the idea of including poetry throughout the whole weekend.

My family is full of artists. I was able to learn more deeply about this lineage of creativity that exists on my maternal side. Thank you to everyone who showed up to honor her life. This was an especially potent moment because my Great-Aunt Lois was last elder of her generation to pass and a great shift is happening. The torch is being passed to the next line of leaders in our family. I’m honored to have been part of all that transpired and to help make the transition more peaceful, artistic, full of safety, full of care, and to help ease the load that we are all carrying together.

I love my family so dearly and my life is what it is because of them. Thank you for all the ways y’all have poured into me and enriched my life. I am what I am and who I continue to evolve into because of it. Thank goodness for them. Thank goodness for the richness of art to carry us through. May we all become more acquainted with the idea of generosity and selflessness in service of others.

Tuesday, June 25th: San Francisco, CA
Hello dear ones, going back in time in order to look forward.

Wow, what a doozy of a gig. I look back and wonder if this one really happened. Something shifted in me as I typed away on my typewriter for our guests this afternoon. To be frank, I always feel an energetic shift when I’m in San Francisco. My dad was born here and I feel his spirit with me in every footstep. I’ve had many spiritual experiences here, and have found myself in mystical instances that only happen in San Francisco. It is here that I find myself honoring the quiet still voice that speaks to me, whether in flashes as I shower or in my dreams as I sleep. I am renewed here and locate myself in the liminal area where all breakthroughs occur. For maximum results, I stay on the razor’s edge. Similar to what teacher Sonia Choquette said, “Your sixth sense should be your first sense.” San Francisco reminds me that my sixth sense is the first sense I lean on. I always remember that when I smell the ocean air.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending Inge’s birthday celebration in Palo Alto which was organized by her partner Rajkumari. The weather was just right and so were the tacos. In this space, we all co-created a container of safety, nourishment, play, community, laughter, and celebration. There are so many layers to humanity, and I appreciate every opportunity to experience all the ways humans human.

In this backyard existed freedom and I appreciate the ways they gave so freely to me, whether unknowingly and mysteriously, or wholeheartedly and full of conscious awareness. Thank you all for the gift of connection. I am always so honored to be a vessel of peace, care, vulnerability, laughter, play, warmth, and heart. Until the next event 💌📨♥️

The way water falls from the sky makes me wanna fall from something too. After you picked up your guitar, I closed my eyes and it felt like stars got injected into my veins. The ground will always catch me, mud streaks and all, the blessings flow like currency which is power. I feel the heartbeat of medicine within me, she sings songs that pulsate geometry and grace, kaleidoscope colors cascading up and down like a merry go round. This commitment to my spiritual path activates my heart, allowing my inner compass to flood with configurations of confidence and courage, lighting the way so that every step I take is with fortitude and respect.

Black Condors, thank you for flying high with me into the light of the Sun. May the formations we make with our wings send ripples of love and healing to the East, South, West and North, where these waves meet us in the golden glow of the sunrise. The work we did this weekend, and the work we continue to find ourselves in since Black Condor was birthed last summer, remains to be some of the most important work I’ve done in my life. Black people embracing our indigenous spiritual technologies of healing, caretaking, and community is what the world needs more of. We are the medicine. Community is medicine. Nature is medicine.

Thank you for allowing me to honor myself by taking deeper responsibility for my healing. I promise not to take my own efforts or the help offered to me for granted. I promise to integrate the wisdom I gleaned during this process so that I can pray it forward and love in abundance. Liberation and power overwhelm my energetic body, creating the thoughts and actions needed in order to navigate situations that no longer serve me for continued evolution and growth. I’m grateful for this spiritual community. Many bows to our facilitators, the Guardians, our founder, and all of the people that make this retreat what it is. Here’s to Roots of Renewal 2024! One of the coolest things about working at a school is you get the same holidays as them. This school year, Spring Break coincides with my birthday and it’s been nothing but bliss! Sharing some of this energy I feel inside me for others to sip on. Here’s to 33❣️

🎴A significant message is ready to reveal itself. It’s riding on a kite powered by air and lightning and love. The clouds rain coins from the sky and those coins sit on your hands and feet and head while horses ride by lickety-split to send word, and letters, into town. A cornucopia of cups and goblets overflow when the message gets delivered. A decision is made and a man sitting on a throne heralds in a new beginning, waving his wand, sitting regal and royal, putting on a show for the Moon.🎴

I traveled through woods and snow, darkness, pressurized air and water, to make it from Northern California to Carson City, Nevada for an intimate yet extravagant NYE evening party. Tarot readings alchemized into poetry via the Tarot of White Cats deck. Thank you to the guests, staff and hosts for their hospitality, caretaking and generosity. Thank you for sharing your stories, your hearts, your humanity, laughter and tears, seeking solutions and blessings through divining the cards.
