Well well well. A race I practically drooped from because I canceled my hotel a week before. But then I got a case of the fck it’s. So rebooked my room 😂 Petey no training. And I think it was the best decision I made. Ok git up early Friday drove up to big bear and had plenty of time before the HOKA shake out. And what a fun time it was. Before we started they had a raffle and gave a couple items out then it was off we went. Ok so this was great because I gave me a chance to remember the beginning of the race so we went 2 miles out and back. I walked much of it because I wanted to see my pace before going up the mountain the next day in order to conserve energy. And for a guy that didn’t train I felt
Really good. I was happy with the pace and thought i definitely can do this. Well I woke up in the morning tied the line and remembered going up that mountain last year and it was brutal. So when I started the race I figured in my head yes being in my head is like the ghetto. I thought I just do the beginning of the race and go back to my room and eat pizza lol. Well of as I was running one of the planters in my left foot was tight and that really pushed me to not do it. But that HOKA cheer station just at the bottom of the mountain and people I know encouraged me and I figured I just go up a little way and come back down 😂. My foot was feeling better and I had a good pace going up the mountain and before yiu know it I was more then half way up. The weather yesterday was perfect. I was with a good crowd and before yiu know it we were at the top. PS I PR’d my climb from the bottom of the hill to the top. What a great accomplishment 😂 fur a guy that wanted to just say fck it. Ok yep it was time to come back down I made some really nice friends and we played tag on the way down we laughed we talked and turned this into a fun thing supporting each other. Ok I finished at 3:50 which wound up as a 13 minute PR from last year and I actually couldn’t believe it. Even though I kicked a Rick with the same toe I recently broke and that shit hurt 😂. Ok I definitely want to do this one again next year and want to bet some more of those good vibes. 😎

From Dodger stadium Saturday to the Rose Bowl Sunday, super stoked to have run the @bimboglobalrace It always fills up so quick and we all nabbed spots. Thank you @bimbobakeriesusa for always putting on a top tier event that helps feed the community. I opted for the 10K and thankfully that hill got removed from the course, and the cloud cover held most of the race. Then we grabbed dim sum 🙌 #goodrflamboyance #shokzstar #werunla

Sydney Marathon- Part 4

I had so much fun during the second half of the race. By mile 19, I was having the time of my Iife. I was snacking on my last mandarin orange and giving all of the little kids along the course enthusiasic high fives.

Around mile 21, I was stopped to give an interview. Maybe it was all of the candy I had consumed or perhaps I was just in a good mood, the end result was an extra energetic interview. I was living in the moment that I completely forgot to ask where the interview would be broadcast. I can do better next time.

By mile 22, it was getting quite sunny and I had run out of snacks. I was not my happiest self. Then, out of nowhere I heard my name being called by @cocoremybleu ! I instantly turned around and shrieked at the top of my lungs in excitement! I had hoped that I would run into her, and I did. I have been blessed to run on 4 continents with Pretty. Loved checking off another continent together. Pretty, congratulations on your 49th marathon!

The final miles winded through the Sydney Botanical Garden. It was awesome to run through it a second time. The Mini Marathon also passed through the Botanical Garden as well. Just as I had parted ways with Pretty, at mile 25, I was fortunate to run into @e_beast_in_training ! Estelle, you looked so strong going up that big hill! So wonderful to see you during both the Mini Marathon and the Marathon!

Sydney Mini Marathon- post race memories with my amazing friends.

The finish line was packed with runners and crowd control was definitely a challenge. I didn’t have the opportunity to take pictures at the Opera House directly after finishing. I made a mental note to take pictures with the Opera House after the marathon. I am always looking at ways to improve in the future.

I received my medal at the entrance to the beautiful Sydney Botanical Gardens. Runners were then funneled up a hill to the finisher festival inside the Botanical Gardens. My mom and I parted ways halfway through the race (she wanted to race and I had a marathon the following day so I absolutely did not want to race). My main goal was to find my mom. I was concerned with all of the people that I wouldn’t be able to spot her. Fortunately, I found her right away. I worried for nothing.

While on our walk to the finisher festival, I was over the moon thrilled with delight when I spotted Pretty Soelaiman! I did squeal with happiness when I spotted her trusty mascot, Remy, from Disney’s Ratatouille. This was my first time to see her on this trip.

I have been so very blessed to run around the world with Pretty. We have run marathons in Europe (Berlin in 2023 and Marathon Pour Tous in Paris in 2024), Asia (Tokyo in 2024), North America (our hometown Los Angeles Marathon), and now Australia (Sydney in 2026). I’m so thankful for her friendship and that we have been able to share so many incredible memories together. I don’t really care so much about the running but I have loved the people I have met along the way.

The countdown to the Sydney Marathon is on!

One by one, some of our IndoRunners USA runners are arriving in Sydney! Some are still battling jet lag 😴 while we’re all feeling that incredible mix of excitement and nervousness as we get ready to take on 42.2 km on the other side of the world!

We’ve put in the miles, the early mornings, the long runs, and the hard work. Now it’s time to trust our training, enjoy the journey, and give it everything we’ve got!

Wishing all Sydney Marathon runners a safe and amazing race! ❤️

What a fun morning celebration @100milesofsummer at @lululemon with @kaylajeter_ Another hot August run, but we passed the @nespressousa popup and grabbed refreshments to cool off on our way back. Always great to see this crew! 🙌

Post-wheeze… we didn’t all run together, but we celebrated together. Thankful to have time to connect over brunch, and then again at the Sunsrt Festival. Ended Saturday with over 59K steps (pretty close to my one and only marathon day). Calves sore, heart full. Wish I had been able to stay a bit longer but it wasn’t in the cards this year. Until 2027, Seawheeze (yes, I’m putting it out to the universe 🙏). ❤️ #seawheeze #runyogaparty #thesweatlife
